REAGAN'S POV.
The sound of my office door opening reverberates throughout the entire room and fills my ears. I don't look up to see who it is, but I can already identify him by his scent.
Kyle.
Now I wonder what announcement he has come to make. As his approaching footsteps become louder, I set down the pen in my hand and intertwine my fingers, looking up at him.
“Yes, Kyle. What other boring meeting or banquet am I scheduled to attend this time around?” I ask, keeping a bored look. He stops in front of the table and chuckles.
“I thought Ronald was joking when he said you're not too thrilled about the upcoming Annual meeting.”
“Oh, he wasn’t pulling your legs, okay? The idea of being amongst those pesky, pompous Alphas for hours devastates me.” I say, massaging my forehead with fingers and sighing heavily. “I'm not even joking.”
“I know you aren't. Especially with everything going on.”
“Exactly!” I slam my palms on the table and lean forward, flashing him a sinister smile. He likes me more than Ronald does. He's more relaxed when dealing with me than Ronald will ever be. He can…
“I know that look.” One hand tucked in his trouser pocket, the other with its index finger circling around my face. “You want to demand something outrageous. You better swallow it, because just like Ronald, I won't let you try to cancel the annual meeting. You honestly have a death wish for all of us, don't you?”
“So you and Ronald have now ganged up against me.”
“No one is ganging up against you. We just…” He stops, frowns his face and throws his hands in the air in derision, groaning. “Why the hell am I even having this talk with you when I'm here to say something else?”
“Because you enjoy torturing me?” I tease, grinning like a fool and he shakes his head, probably sick of my tomfoolery. But he's stuck with me though. I have just two of them… him and Ronald.
They are the only people I can show my goofy side to without the fear of being judged, so they just have to deal with me.
“Alright then.” I clear my throat and adjust myself on the chair, keeping a serious face. “Enough with the jokes. What is it you came to say”
“My father is here to see you.” His announcement hits me like ice cold water that makes me freeze on my spot and stare at him blankly like he has lost his mind.
Mr. William is here to see me.
Why?
My brows furrow as I cast him a critical look.
“I don't remember making an appointment with him, so why is he here?”
“Exactly. There's no appointment, therefore you just have to say the word and he'll be escorted out of this building.” He sounds dead serious and I’m not surprised because Kyle has always been this way towards his father.
Hostile.
Kyle is the spitting image of his father and you'd expect that he inherited not only his father's features, but his personality as well, but boy are you wrong?
His father is like Alina. Self-centred and ambitious. They don't care what they destroy on their way to achieving the goals they've set to achieve. And they both have one thing in common;
They are very unlikable people.
I look at Kyle and sigh. I love him. I respect him a great deal and no matter how much I dislike Mr. William. No matter how much I want to dismiss him right now, I can't, because he is my best friend's father.
“Send him in.” My tone is nearly depressing.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Kyle.” I nod. “Just send him already so we can get this over with.”
“He's probably here to make a ridiculous demand of you. You shouldn't…” The intense side eye I shoot at him shuts his mouth. He clears his throat and nods his head. “Right away, My Lord.” He swivels on his heels and saunters out of the office.
A few minutes later, I'm leaning against my chair, watching in amusement as the older version of Kyle breezes into my room like he owns it. After greeting me, he stays standing.
“Please sit, Mr. William.”
