REAGAN'S POV.

“Welcome home, Alpha Reagan.” Greetings pour in from the guards standing around the premises the moment I step out of the car. I reciprocate their greetings with a smile and a curt nod towards the men who return to their normal, rigid postures. Alina, who got out through the other side of the car, joins me and the satisfactory smile on her face makes me want to burst with anger.

Just like I promised, I have brought her to my chambers but I will not be spending the night with her like she thinks. I'd rather sleep with Ashanti in the dungeon cell than spend the night in the same room with Alina. I have never done so before and I never will.

My body stiffens when she slides her hand around my arm and connects her body with mine. I look down at her and flash her a perfect fake smile. The exaggerated grin on her face grates on my last nerves and only the Moon goddess knows how much I want to yank my hand out her hold and…

Oh thank goodness!

I've been vindicated by a phonecall.

The buzzing of my phone in my suit jacket persists and I calmly take my hand out of Alina's grasp, giving her an apologetic look, I do not mean one bit.

“I have to take this.” Her face falls.

Tss…

The audacity!

I take out the phone from my pocket and my entire body hums with excitement when I see Kyle's name on the caller ID. I don’t know why, but lately, Kyle’s phone calls give me joy. I quickly swipe the answer icon and press my phone against my ears, making sure to take a few steps away from Alina's prying ears.

“Yes… Yeah I had to see someone so I stepped out… At home… Why, what's wrong?... Oh… Oohhh…” I turn to look at Alina whose eyes are trained on me and she still has that frown. I chuckle and avert my gaze from her. “I'll be right there!” I end the call and walk back to her.
