CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE.
ASHANTI'S POV.
“Leonard, once again I'm very sorry about Alpha Reagan's intrusion. It was very wrong of him to show up the way he did.” I apologize to Leonard for the umpteenth time as we take our seats at the table for two.
“And for the one thousandth time, it's fine. It's not your fault he showed up out of nowhere, so stop apologising.”
“It's just …” I sigh heavily, giving him a sorry look. “It's very embarrassing to recall. We were all dressed up and ready to leave and he just popped up from nowhere and started talking nonsense.”
“He wasn't talking nonsense.” He says calmly, quietly. My eyes widen as I stare at him in shock. He looks so calm and collected. There's not a single trace of anger or annoyance on his face or in his voice. He sounds okay. Like nothing happened back there. I'm about to say something when a waiter comes. The next minutes go by with us placing orders for our meal and drinks and we only look at each other again when the waiter leaves.
“So…” I clear my throat. “You think he wasn't talking nonsense?”
“I know he wasn't. The man was only expressing his feelings.”
“Expressing his feelings?” Now I'm a bit confused. Leonard leans against his seat and stares straight at me, smiling.
God!
He looks even more handsome when he smiles!
And did I tell you about how nice he smells? It's nothing compared to how Alpha Reagan smells, but still, it's good.
“He's in love with you and he doesn't like the fact that I'm taking you out on this date.” He calmly deciphers and his words explode on my face like fireworks.
I freeze.
Blood pauses in my veins.
Thick, searing head spreads from my head to my toes as I look at the man sitting across from me. I open my mouth to speak, but words fail me. I don't know what to say. I don't even have a voice anymore.
That completely threw me off balance.
“Oh…” Is all I manage after several moments of shock and silence.
“Yeah.” He nods. “But that's his problem.”
