A nervous chill crept over Higgs as he snatched up the ringing device. “How may I assist, Mr. Williams?”

“What took you so long to respond?” The speaker’s tone dripped with irritation.

“My apologies, sir. That wasn’t my intention. I was just…” Higgs stumbled, unable to complete his sentence.

He darted a sharp glance toward Yvette, the undressed woman beside him, who muffled a laugh.

But Shawn Williams seemed to have guessed what he had been doing. “Is it that sweet little thing from the

“Yes,” Higgs confirmed.

“Yes, absolutely,” Higgs agreed at once, beads forming along his hairline. He knew this was no idle comment- it was a veiled threat.

Then, as predicted, Shawn warned, “Don’t screw this up. Remember, you’re only alive because you’re a Marshall. If you can’t bring the Marshall family under my thumb, I’ll personally bring my army to Voutsas and take it over. And if I do that, your value plummets. Got that? This is your final chance.”

“I understand. I won’t fail you!” Higgs‘ words quivered.

“Good. One last item–review the message I forwarded. Do you know the person shown?” Shawn’s voice was

more composed now.

Opening the attachment, Higgs examined the images. But the individual wasn’t familiar. It was a man.

Had Maren or anyone familiar with Stormclaw been present, they would have immediately identified the long- lost fighter.

“Is this person from Voutsas?” Shawn inquired.

“I’ve never seen him before,” Higgs responded after a moment of careful reflection.

Anyone affiliated with Shawn was rarely unremarkable, yet Higgs was convinced that the man in the images wasn’t among Voutsas‘ well–known elite.

“How odd. If he doesn’t belong to your city, what’s he doing there?” Shaw furrowed his brow in confusion.

Higgs inquired, “Are you trying to locate him? Would you like me to assist with the search?”

The Marshalls, after all, held significant influence in that city and could trace someone with relative ease.

“You won’t be able to track him down,” Shawn replied, catching Higgs off guard. “This guy isn’t ordinary, He eliminated Ronan and even discovered our hideout near Voutsas, slaughtering every last one of the two

hundred stationed there.”

“He’s that dangerous?”

Both Higgs and Yvette stared in disbelief.

Only then did Higgs piece together the reason behind Ronan Tucker’s recent silence.

Ronan–recognizable by his flowing hair–was the same man who had once ambushed Lucien and Maren.

“Whoever he is, he’s a threat,” Shawn continued. “What baffles me is why someone with no apparent ties to

Voutsas would sabotage our operations.”

Higgs, faced with that question, remained silent.

And truthfully, Shawn didn’t expect him to know anything about Stormclaw’s identity.

“That’s all for now. Move fast. One more failure, and it’s over for you.”
