Chapter 314 Over Five Hundred Men Were Killed

With a smug grin, the middle–aged man held up a photo of Stormclaw, the smirk settling deep across his face. Moments earlier, he’d dug up the man’s history under direct orders from Mr. Williams.

“Originally showed up at the Royal Military Academy in Baimsa, strongly connected to Maren Morgan, the local underworld queen. This man is another one of Lucien’s allies. Lucien himself doesn’t pose much of a threat, but Maren is the real concern. She somehow managed to turn Lucien, who’s always been spineless, into someone bold enough to challenge for the role of the next Marshall family head. And the person who took Ronan down? The middle–aged man retrieved another photo of Maren and took a long, thoughtful look at it once more.

heavy–duty sniper rifle loaded with armor–piercing rounds to take her out. Is any of that true?”

One of the subordinates posed the question to the middle–aged man. The tale had already started to take on a life of its own among the crew.

The middle–aged man scowled. “Quit wasting time with that nonsense. What does it matter if it really happened or not? Unless she’s some kind of freak or inhuman beast, a bullet will stop her just like anyone else.”

He refused to entertain the myth. To him, Ronan had simply failed.

“Understood, sit,” the subordinate said, giving a sharp nod before lowering his head in acknowledgment.

Seeking favor, the subordinate flashed a grin. “Genius strategy. Once you take over Voutsas, Mr. Williams’s bound to shower you with rewards when we return.”

“Relax. You’ve been with me a long time. I’m not the type to forget who’s earned their piece.”

He wasn’t fooled for a second. Flattery was cheap, and this one laid it on thick.

Quick to show gratitude, the subordinate dipped his head. “Thanks!”

“It feels like Higgs is getting a free ride. We’re the ones putting in all the work, but when it’s all said and done, Mr. Williams still plans to hand the Marshall family over to him. It’s not fair to you,” the subordinate whispered.

“Careful what you say.”

That comment earned him a sharp look.

“I’ve met Higgs. I’ll admit–he’s smart, and he can fight. But his weakness for women will be his downfall. Even so, he’s the rightful heir. Without him, we’d never have control in the Marshall family. Everything we do has to push Mr. Williams‘ grand plan forward! We’ve already conquered so many cities before this. Voutsas is just another piece of the puzzle. Before long, all of Slatinia will be ours, ar Mr. Williams won’t leave us empty-

handed.”

“Understood.”

With that reminder, the subordinate wisely zipped his mouth.

“Why all the commotion? How many times do I have to remind you? No matter what goes down, you keep a level head. Panicking won’t fix a damn thing.” The middle–aged man snapped at the newcomer.

The moment he got scolded, the newcomer straightened up and pulled himself together. “Yes, got it.”

“Good. Now start talking–what’s happening?” The middle–aged man steadied himself and casually lifted his coffee for another sip.

“We’re under attack!”

The cup nearly slipped from the man’s fingers. “What did you say?”
