Chapter 345 A Celebration
Yvette didn’t even come to her senses until the Marshalls had bound her tight.
“Grandpa, you can relax now. These weapons came straight from that powerful group. They’ve given us their word–they’re backing us all the way.”
Lucien ordered his men to bring up the weapons Maren had given him.
As soon as Calvert laid eyes on the weapons, he couldn’t contain himself. Laughter poured out of him before he even realized.
“This is exactly what we needed. Just what I wanted,” said Calvert, smacking Lucien’s shoulder with a proud grin.
“I’ll admit it–I underestimated you, kid. You’ve come into your own, and one day, you’re going to make a damn fine head of this family,” Calvert said, his smile growing wider with pride.
“Let’s throw a celebration, Mr. Marshall!” The family broke out in cheers, the pressure they’d been carrying finally lifting off their backs.
“Absolutely!” Calvert didn’t hesitate. A celebration like that would shake off the heaviness that had been hanging over the family for too long. It would remind everyone who the Marshalls still were.
“Edwin, get started on organizing a full–blown celebration. I want music, fireworks–everything. Make sure it’s loud enough for every family in Voutsas to hear us.”
It wasn’t just about celebrating. Calvert had another goal in mind–watching how the other families would respond. If they sensed weakness, they’d get bold. But if they heard strength, they’d fall back in line.
“You got it,” said Edwin before heading off to direct the estate’s preparations himself.
“Lucien, come with me. We’re going to the study.”
There were too many unanswered questions in Calvert’s head. What happened tonight? How did Lucien end up with such a powerful ally after just one trip out?
Calvert made his way to the study on the second floor, where it was absolutely quiet.
Lucien already knew exactly how he wanted to explain things. “Grandpa, I can’t take credit for this. Honestly, it
was all Maren.”
There was no way he’d claim he somehow pulled off an alliance like that during a short outing. No one would
buy a story that far–fetched.
The footage clearly showed the fight had happened in Shueso Town. He had barely enough time to get there and back, let alone secure military–grade backing. Pinning the whole thing on Maren was the safest bet.
“Maren?” Calvert raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by the name.

<Chapter 345 A Celebration
He never truly believed Lucien had pulled this off himself, but what surprised him was that the mastermind
turned out to be Maren.
Since Maren was romantically involved with Lucien, and the Marshalls had given her such a hard time, the effort she put into joining the Marshall family made quite a few of them wonder, at least in the beginning, if she was only interested in their influence and position.
But if she really had ties to a group that powerful, why would she need the Marshall family at all?
Of course, Calvert didn’t doubt the story for a second.
There was no other way to explain those weapons. He’d examined them up close. The quality was unmistakable–high–grade imports, most of them cutting–edge models not even available on the domestic
market.
Only serious global organizations could get their hands on that kind of firepower.
“Lucien, did she say anything about the group backing us? Who they are, and what they’re after?
“Well…” Lucien hesitated, feeling a little uncomfortable. He had made up the plan on the spot–he didn’t actually have the name of a real powerful organization to give. What if he invented one and someone called his
bluff?
Most major international powers were well–known, and if he threw out a fake name, it would be obvious in no
time.
“Not something you can share?” Calvert said.
“Sorry, Grandpa. It’s really not something I can say. Maren mentioned that they prefer to stay under the radar.” Lucien had no choice but to keep the story going.
“Well, that’s unfortunate. I would’ve liked to thank them in person. I’ll head to Maren’s place tomorrow to
express my gratitude.”
Calvert had actually planned to meet Maren today, but with Shawn’s threats hanging over them and the entire Marshall family walking a tightrope, there simply hadn’t been a moment to spare.
“There’s no need for that. I’ll thank her for you,” Lucien said quickly. The last thing he could risk was letting
Calvert anywhere near Maren.
He couldn’t let that happen. Calvert was sharp, and if Maren slipped up–if even the smallest detail didn’t add up–the whole cover could collapse.
Trying to steer the conversation elsewhere, Lucien added, “What the family really needs right now is strength. If we want to hold our ground in Voutsas, we need to rally morale–and that means you should be more involved again, Grandpa.”
“You’re right. Those families in Voutsas need a little reminder of who we are,” said Calvert.
Lucien’s comment had hit a nerve. Ever since Calvert had been poisoned and forced into recovery, those so- called allies had vanished. No visits. No support. Just silence–as if they were all waiting for the Marshalls to collapse.
It was time to drag them back to the table.
