Chapter 5 Graduate In
Three Days
As Maren reached home, dawn was breaking.
Upon entering the living room, she found Nadia receiving attention from her three brothers and her father, Ashton Morgan.
Ashton fumed upon noticing Maren, his other daughter who had been abducted.
“You ingrate! How dare you show your face here!” Ashton yelled, pounding the table as he hurled insults at Maren.
Accustomed to such hostility, Maren disregarded his outburst, proceeded to the dining room, and settled at the table where
a servant promptly served her breakfast.
“Why shouldn’t I return to my own home?” Despite the disapproving stares, Maren started on her breakfast with composed
detachment.
Feeling the effects of a strenuous night and a long absence from physical activity, she knew she needed sustenance.
However, Ashton was not about to case up.
He approached her at the dining table, raising his voice. “Explain yourself! Why are you trying to take back the shares from
the Thorpe family? Don’t you understand the longstanding ties between our families? Are you aware of the potential
damage your actions could cause?”
His concerns were heightened by the risk to his recent joint ventures with the Thorpe family.
Maren remained unfazed by Ashton’s confrontational approach.
Despite Ashton being her biological father, there was no warmth or high regard for Maren from him.
Six years ago, merely a day after Maren’s abduction, Ashton had hurriedly brought his illegitimate daughter, Nadia, into the
Morgan family.
Ashton’s disdain played a significant role in Maren’s marginalized status within the Morgan family hierarchy.
“Potential damage? What potential damage are you referring to?” Maren responded, a subtle smile playing on her lips. “I am only taking back what lawfully belongs to me. Moreover, Dad, you’re mistaken if you think I’m only after the 10% given to the Thorpe family. I’m also reclaiming the other 40% that’s rightfully mine.”
Ashton’s temper erupted when he heard her declaration. “What did you say? The remaining 40%?”
The remaining 40% of shares were currently under his management.
“Maren, how dare you claim that! After decades of dedicating myself to managing Morgan Group, you think you can just
strip it all away?”
Her brothers shared Ashton’s outrage, equally disturbed by her claims.

“Maren! Don’t go overboard. The Morgan Group isn’t yours alone!”
“That’s right!”
Their frustration was evident, as their mother had bequeathed the shares solely to Maren.
Yet Maren remained unflustered. She had just finished her meal and casually took a napkin, dabbing her lips with poise
before heading towards the staircase.
Turning back, she addressed them with deliberation. “Don’t fret, Dad, and dear brothers. You’ve served me well over the years. I certainly won’t shortchange you on your ‘salaries.“”
This offhand comment rendered Ashton and her three brothers utterly dumbfounded and seething.
Salaries? Those were fewer compared to the regular dividends and shares they desired.
Realizing the discussion was veering off course, Ashton intercepted Maren at the foot of the stairs.
His voice softened a bit. “Maren, we’re family. No need to be so hard on each other. Your mother did leave those shares to
you, that’s true. But I made her a promise–to wait until you were ready to take on that kind of responsibility before
handing them over. You may be an adult now, but you’re still a little inexperienced. If you take over the shares too soon,
things like that kidnapping could happen again. So here’s what I propose–once you graduate from the Royal Military
Academy and can fully protect yourself, I’ll give you every share that’s rightfully yours. Sounds fair?”
Bobby Morgan, Maren’s third brother, quickly added, “Maren, without the capability to defend yourself, possessing the
wealth could actually prove dangerous. We’re just looking out for your best interests.”
Cullum Morgan, her second brother, then suggested, “Exactly, Maren. Why not come with me to the academy tomorrow to
work on your self–defense skills? That way, you can avoid future threats.”
Nadia jumped at the chance to join the conversation. “Right, Maren. It’s perfect timing because our academy has a special
combat class this morning with a mysterious combat expert. Wilbur will be there too. You should come along.”
As Maren listened to their suggestions while approaching the staircase, she couldn’t help but smile.
In Baimsa, there are three prestigious institutions: the Royal Military Academy, the Royal Institute of Technology, and the
Royal College of Medicine.
The three academies were collectively known as the Baimsa Royal Trinity.
