Chapter 9 I’ll Defeat You

Maren was challenging Daniel? She claimed she was ready to defeat him, right here, right now?

The moment she declared this, the crowd was stunned into silence.

This brief pause was soon shattered by bursts of laughter rippling through the audience.

“Can you believe that? She is actually challenging the dean? Does she truly believe she can win?”

“This has to be the joke of the day! Her? A student who was kicked out by her mentor last time is now talking about

beating the dean?”

“Maren really does speak without thinking!”

The students were utterly astonished.

She seemed completely out of her mind. Such audacity was remarkable in the history of the academy.

“Seriously, Maren…” Nadia exclaimed, her hand over her mouth in surprise, then turned to the bewildered crowd. “You

might not be aware, but this morning she wagered with our father that she would graduate from the academy in just three

days!”

Nadia’s statement reverberated through the crowd, leaving them astonished.

The sound of hearty laughter permeated the area, causing Daniel’s irritation to manifest visibly on his face.

What she was unaware of was Maren’s urgent need to graduate quickly to regain control of her shares.

From his perspective, her assertion that she could graduate in three days appeared to mock the academy and challenge his

authority.

He perceived her statement as a provocation.

with combat trials, perhaps we could arrange their duel for three days from now in the gym?” Nadia chimed in.

Her intentions were not considerate. She had a personal stake in pinning Maren into a corner. Setting the duel on the day

the bet ended meant Maren would have no escape route.

The gym was a focal point of activity. With a three–day lead time, it would be trivial for Nadia to inform the media. The ensuing drama of Maren’s challenge to Daniel would dominate the headlines in Baimsa.

Nadia could hardly wait to find out if Maren would still hold on to her title as the Morgan heiress after all this.

The thought lit her up with excitement.

Daniel considered the proposal and found it acceptable.

After all, Maren was the first person ever bold enough to challenge him. Even if she was a failure in his eyes, as the dean

“Are you in agreement, Maren?” Daniel directed his question to her.

With a nonchalant nod, Maren responded, “It’s all the same to me.”

She was well aware of Nadia’s manipulation behind the challenge; nonetheless, she remained indifferent.
