Noah’s voice shook as he continued, “If Finley forcefully acquires the Hunter Corporation, it’ll kill my grandpa. Sam, even if you don’t care about me, at least do it for my grandpa’s sake. You have to help me.” 

Samantha remained silent, her expression unreadable. 

I see now. Noah’s real worry isn’t about Finley wanting to kill him–it’s about Finley wanting his company. He’s scared of losing everything, which is why he’s come to me for help. 

But why would Finley suddenly want to take over his company? Hunter Corporation is doing well, and a hostile takeover would cost a fortune. Besides, if Noah’s company goes bankrupt, how am I supposed to make him suffer the way I’ve planned? I still want him to feel the kind of pain that makes him wish he were dead. 

With that thought, Samantha decided to help Noah–for now. 

Whatever Finley’s motive was, she couldn’t let him take over the Hunter Corporation just yet. She still had plans for Noah’s downfall. 

However, there was no way she was going to help him for free. Without missing a beat, Samantha looked at Noah and said, “Noah, I don’t know exactly what went down between you and Finley, but if you want me to stop him from taking over your company, I’m your only option.” 

Samantha’s eyes gleamed with a sly,smile. “But I have one rule–I never help for free. So, Noah, if you give me what I want, I’ll talk to Finley. I will not only stop him from taking over your company, but I’ll also make sure he doesn’t hurt you.” 

What is Samantha trying to pull on me this time? 

Based on his past experiences, whatever she wanted this time wouldn’t come cheap. He estimated the cost would likely exceed ten million. 

But if that was what it took to save his company, it was a price worth paying. The thought gave him a strange sense of calm, as if losing millions didn’t hurt quite as much when it meant survival. Taking a deep breath, he asked, “How much are you asking for this time?” 

Samantha chuckled softly. “This time, I don’t want your money. I want something else.” 

Noah’s brow furrowed in suspicion. “What do you want?” 

Her response was sharp, and she delivered it without hesitation. “Your shares in Hunter Corporation.” 

Noah stared at her, stunned into silence. 

“Sam, are you kidding me?” he finally spat out. “How can I give the shares to you? You know how important those shares are, don’t you? They’re not just numbers on paper.” 

Samantha didn’t flinch. She didn’t care about the significance of the shares. All she wanted was a piece of the company. If Noah wasn’t willing to part with them, she wouldn’t lift a finger to help him. 

“I’m well aware,” she replied smoothly. 

Noah’s frustration bubbled over. “If you know that, why on earth would you even ask for my shares? You

Samantha sighed theatrically. “Fine, if you’re that attached to your shares, I’ll settle for cash. You can just give me the money instead.” 

She didn’t mind. With the money, she could casily buy those shares herself. The thought of Noah’s own money being used against him amused her to no end. She could almost picture his face when he found out that she’d become a shareholder with his help. I wonder how he’d react to that. Would it infuriate him? Would it kill him? 

Though I hope it doesn’t kill him–where’s the fun in that?
