The Chief Military Governor's invitation!
Hearing that news frightened Dash so much that his soul practically jumped. He quickly gathered the leaders of the Food and Drug Administration Department, the Taxation Department, the Health Bureau, and all other relevant departments. Everyone hurried over.
Brennan was surprised to see that those leaders actually rushed over.
His jaw dropped, and his eyes bulged. “Mr. Parr, why is everyone here?” asked Brennan.
Dash was sweating profusely, and he scanned nervously at the dead and wounded all over the floor. With fear echoing in his voice, he asked, “Didn't they say that the Chief Military Governor is here? Where is he?”
The leaders standing behind him looked confused as well.
Brennan seemed confused. He gestured to Nathan and Colin before answering, “What Chief Military Governor? Nathan Cross is the one who called everyone over!”
Nathan Cross?
Dash's expression turned evil as he and the other leaders shifted their gazes to Nathan.
Clifford trained Dash to become the man he was. Hence, Dash had always regarded Clifford as his mentor.
Nathan was his mentor's enemy, so Dash saw Nathan as his own enemy as well.
The truth was that Dash only agreed to help Brennan bully Cross Group because Clifford
requested it.
If that hadn't been the case, Dash, the political leader of the South, would've been too proud to run errands and help Brennan like that.
Dash turned grouchy the second he heard that the Chief Military Governor was not the one who sent the invitation. This is all Nathan Cross' trick!
He glared sternly at Nathan and growled, “Nathan Cross, how dare you impersonate the Chief Military Governor and pull a prank on us?
Do you know what crimes you have committed?”
After saying all that, Dash narrowed his eyes and turned to Nathan. The former threatened, “Nathan Cross, you faked a call from the Chief Military Governor, and the consequences will be dire. If you want us to forgive you, you must go down on your knees right away and clean my leather shoes. If I am happy with it, I will forgive you for committing identity theft and conning us. What do you say? What do you think of this deal?”
Dash's subordinates couldn't help laughing aloud at that moment.
It was like how the old saying goes. There really are two sides to one coin.
The more courteous the men were when Nathan was in power, the more arrogant they acted when Nathan lost his power.
Nathan stared amusingly at Dash. Did that idiot develop a deep sense of insecurity after going around and buttering others up endlessly? Is that why he's acting so arrogantly now that he obtained a little power?
Nathan had a skin-deep grin on when he said, “You want me to go down on my knees and clean your shoe? Well, sorry to disappoint, but I didn't commit any identity theft, so the crime you're talking about doesn't exist. I don't need you to forgive me for any crimes or let me go.”
What?
Dash and his subordinates were all stunned.
