In truth, Penny and the executive staff had already predicted this result. After all, an accident happening at the construction site was the sole responsibility of the person in charge which in this case was Penny.

She spoke up as she stared at the sternlooking Luke, "Mr. Harper, I won't shirk my responsibilities. Our company has already prepared a plan to reimburse the injured workers. We hope things will blow over soon so we can get back to work as soon as possible."

Luke sneered. "Get back to work? You must be joking! Not only will you have to reimburse the workers, your construction is to go on hiatus indefinitely!"

Indefinite hiatus!

Penny and the executives were shocked and speechless. Although the Asiatic construction site had had an accident and several workers had been injured, nobody had actually died. It was not a particularly severe incident and neither was it a minor one.

Under normal circumstances, the company would have to compensate the injured workers but that was it. MEM would not have punished them so severely. At the end of the day, all construction sites would have some minor mishaps or another. As long as the issue was resolved, everything would be fine.

But, Luke was actually demanding Cross Corporation to go on indefinite hiatus.

Penny guickly tried to explain, "Mr. Harper, the Asiatic shopping mall project is a very important developmental project. If we go on indefinite hiatus, that will hinder our progress very badly.”

Luke cut her off, "Don't worry, I'll hand in a proposal to our director and the mayor about canceling the agreement with Cross Corporation and handing the project to another company. Your company has lost the right to continue with this project."

Penny's face went pale and she uttered in a trembling voice, "Mr. Harper..."

Before she could say anything more, the man had already stood up. Snorting, he threw out one last sentence, "You'd better watch out!”

With that, he strode out with his team.

The executives and Penny felt that the world was ending as they wondered what to do next. Just then, Nathan came in.

Russell's voice was nervous as he answered, "Luther Ortis!" "Get him to come and meet me at Cross Corporation. Tell him I want to have tea

with him."

With that, he hung up.

When the director of MEM, Luther Ortis, received a call from the mayor saying Nathan Cross wanted to have tea with him, he was ecstatic. He immediately selected the best tea he had in his collection and had his driver take him to Cross Corporation.

He was one of the few people in Channing who knew Nathan's real identity. What an honor it was to have tea with the General of the North Army!
