The night fell and the city was brightly lit.

At the Cloud Palace, a birthday dinner with over a hundred tables with almost a thousand guests had just begun.

Penny, with Nathan by her side, gave a speech thanking those who had made it to celebrate her birthday, before giving a toast to all the guests.

The multitude of guests responded enthusiastically and the atmosphere became very lively.

Nathan and Penny returned to their seats and sat down, and the dinner started officially.

There was a ginormous LCD TV screen embedded in one of the walls in the hall of Cloud Palace.

The size of the screen was so big, it was comparable to those seen in a movie theater.

Thomas Dunn had already instructed the manager to turn on the TV and tune into the local Channing station.

All the guests there were waiting to see if Sylvie Larson would appear on TV at 7pm to make a public apology to Penny.

Penny turned to Nathan and whispered, "This doesn't seem right. Why don't we turn off the TV?”

Nathan answered nonchalantly. "It was probably Thomas' idea to turn on the TV. But I don't see anything wrong with it.”

Penny bit her lip helplessly and didn't say anything further.

Soon enough, the clock ticked to 7pm.

The local Channing station began reporting the news, and Sylvie Larson was nowhere to be seen at all.

The guests at the dinner exchanged looks, then broke off into whispers and gossip.

"Why isn't Sylvie Larson making an apology on TV as promised?"

"She probably found some way to get out of it. After all, she is the daughter of the Larsons and the CEO of Hay Corp and is a well-known figure in Channing."

"That's right. Even if she wriggled her way out of it, Nathan and Penny probably won't be able to do anything to her.”

Nathan frowned in confusion. He was just about to have Colin make a call to the TV station to find out what had happened when the image on TV screen suddenly changed.

The news program that was airing midway suddenly disappeared, and in its place was a photo of a woman scantily dressed and looking disheveled.

And the woman in the picture was none other than Penny!

Thomas quickly came to his senses and furiously demanded a waiter to turn off the TV.

Benson and Leah were both outraged as well. Leah fumed, "What on earth did we do to deserve this? What kind of despicable person would ruin my daughter's reputation like this?"

Benson clenched his fists in anger and his eyes sparked with fury. "When I find out who did this, I will take him down even if it costs me my life."

Kylie had her arms around Penny, giving her support and comfort.

All eyes were on Penny and Nathan. Those in the hall knew clearly that the images shown on screen were created.

But the average viewer who had also tuned in to the channel wouldn't. They would see the pictures and believed them to be Penny as they appeared.

Penny's reputation was undoubtedly going to be destroyed.

Nathan looked to Penny's family and gave them his assurance. "Don't worry. I will make sure none of this will affect Penny. I will explain what happened and clear your name, Penny."

Penny shook her head as her voice quivered. "It's on TV, no amount of explanation can wipe that away. And even if we go around explaining to everyone, people will only think that we're trying to bury it.”

Nathan declared confidently, "Don't worry. I promise that I will take care of it and I will return you a spotless reputation."
