“Is our in-law… Claire Assex?”
William took a good while to even remember that name.
Before leaving America, William knew that Alex and Dorothy were getting married, despite not attending the ceremony. That was when he and Brittany got into a car accident, after all. They were still on their way to the venue.
Since then, some enormous changes had occurred, which led him to fake his death and live as a completely different person. He didn’t even get to see his son getting married.
Brittany nodded. “It’s not just her, by the way.”
William responded. “Mhm, the Assex’s is quite a powerful family after all. I bet they became greater while I was away. With the money and status within Rockefeller Group, Alex must’ve helped them whenever they needed it.”
This made Brittany reminisce about the past. She couldn’t help but scoff herself. However, now was not the time to go into detail, so she said, “We’ll talk about this later when we get the chance. We should meet the others now… Oh wait, your clothes are a little shabby. Let me get you some fresh new ones.”
She then brought out a spatial ring right in front of William, rummaging through it.
“That’s weird. It should be here.”
“Could I have placed it in another ring? Hold on, give me some more time.”
Brittany brought out another ten spatial rings and rummaged through them for quite some time. Only then did she find something that suited her tastes.
“When we last moved, I packed all your clothes and put them in a spatial ring. Then the number of things just kept increasing, leading to more rings. I forgot which is which at this point.”
William stared at his wife, wide-eyed as if this was the first time he got to know her.
“How… How many spatial rings do you have..?”
William had been a cultivator for some while, but he only owned two spatial rings, one of them was merely a few square cubes. Yet his wife, who he thought knew nothing about cultivation, was able to use spatial rings, bringing out tens of them.
‘Is this my wife?’
It was natural for him to feel such sheer shock, as he had no idea what the world had become after the past few years, nor the drastic changes within his family.
After helping him change into his clothes, Brittany said, “Alright, alright, hold with the questions. You should dress up nicely and meet everyone first. The little ones would love to see their grandfather… Oh yeah, since this is your first time meeting them, you should give them a gift. Money is practically useless right now, but this is an old tradition, so just take it as a little blessing.”
She then handed him six large red envelopes. Each of them had eight thousand eight hundred eighty-eight dollars in them.
“Why are there six of them?”
“We have… Well we have six kids in our family, that’s why… You know, we’d even end up with more of them by new year’s?”
“Six? Alex and Dorothy have six children now?!”
“Nope, Dorothy gave birth to quadruplets. The other two children were birthed by his other wives. ”
William froze. “Other daughter-in-laws?! Alex… That brat divorced Dorothy and married other women?!”
