Alex hurried to check up on Hayley, breaking the seals off and opening the coffin. The situation was better than what he thought of as a worst-case scenario. At the very least, her body wasn’t rotting, and her soul was still intact.
“Is she your secret lover?” Whitey scoffed.
“Whitey, you’re a cat, so don’t imitate humans and speak like us. Your kind never really established any relationships, right? You cats usually just find a random partner to mate with whenever it’s mating season. Am I wrong?”
“Meow…” Whitey hissed. “Who told you that? I’m not that easy to get with.”
Alex waved dismissively. “You should go out first!”
“This is my home.”
“What?!”
“I found it, so it’s mine! This place was initially a worship area for the cat tribe too.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Whitey replied. “There’s a temple beneath this place, and it has been there for hundreds of thousands of years. And my senior was the god who was worshiped.”
“A cat?”
“It’s the cat ancestor.”
“Huh???”
Whitey said, “Since the cat ancestor had been worshipped by humans, he was able to keep the peace around the area. With time, it received a large number of worshippers, hence becoming a god… I come here frequently now to accompany him. Maybe he’d give me his title as a god later on.”
Alex felt as if he was listening to a legendary myth.
“Where’s the temple?”
Thirty minutes later, the man finally stopped to check on Hayley again. Her face was no longer as pale as a white sheet, slowly returning to a normal state.
Dub!
Dub, dub…
Her heart started beating again too. A while later, she finally opened her eyes.
Yet Alex furrowed his eyebrows deeply since he noticed that Hayley’s eyes were completely black, filled with demonic energy… It wasn’t just a hallucination either. He really did sense odd energy in her body. However, that Chi faded instantly, along with the black color within her eyes. Her eyes turned normal once again, gorgeous as they had always been.
She blinked a few times and looked straight at Alex while he was staring back at her.
“Hayley?!”
Suddenly, Hayley flashed him a beautiful smile. “It’s been so long, Alex!”
