Chapter 68
My eyes widened in surprise. It felt odd hearing Quentin ask for more of my time. I’d initially thought he would refrain from asking that again ever since what had happened the last time we had dinner but this–this was something I hadn’t expected.
What the hell was going on with him and Askhan? They were both acting pretty off lately, making statements that I would never had thought they’d make.
Back when we just kids, they had never taken the initiative or ever try to come forth with their feelings. But now? It seemed everybody wanted to be more ballsy now.
“I don’t owe you my time.” I said coldly. “What are you going to do?”
Quentin was quite for a while, and in that moment, I contemplated pushing my way past him and walking out of the door. It didn’t matter if I had to contend with a six feet tall man who could probably throw me over his shoulders without even breaking a sweat.
He raised one finger before slowly making his way towards a safe. I stood and watched as he typed in the code and pulled it open.
When he came back to me, there was a small box in his hands. I stared at the outstretched box for a while, wondering if I should actually take it.
The curiosity got the best of me and I ended up plucking it from his hands. His face remained calm as we watched me open the box.
“Put it on when you come for tonight’s dinner party.” He said, eyes carefully watching for my reaction.
I pulled the necklace out of the box and carefully examined it. It was a gold necklace with a dark blue precious stone attached to it.
The stone was the exact same colour as Quentin’s eyes, bright as the ocean and ominous as its depths.
I put the necklace aside. “And who said I was going to come?”
“Oh, you will.” A small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. “I know you will.”
My eyes narrowed on him. I hated that he sounded so sure of himself. Like I would have no other option but to accept his invitation. Well he was in for a big surprise.

my lips as I took in my outfit once more. The gown I’d chosen to wear hugged my features and gave my skin an ethereal glow.
Absentmindedly, I played with the necklace on my neck. I still couldn’t believe I was actually attending this dinner party.
Not a second later, I spotted a car pulling up to the gates of the Alpha Palace. The car stopped just a little distance away from him. When the window came down, I noticed Quentin’s beta at the driver’s
seat.
He got out of the car and helped me with my door. As soon as I got in, he took his own seat and began driving to the venue.
“We’re here, Princess Melanie.” The beta’s voice reached my ears.
The venue of the dinner party was one of the most renowned clubs in the pack. There was an extremely high barrier to get in. My eyes flicked to the parking lot. It looked like some luxurious car show with how many expensive cars were parked there.
Only adult werewolves were allowed as guests and there was a requirement of verifying your
identity before you could get in.
A couple of years ago, I couldn’t get in because I was still a teen at the time. Tonight would be
different.
Today, the club would be hosting the largest werewolf auction of the year. I sent Quentin’s beta a nod before getting out of the car.
While he went to pack the car, I made my way towards the club. I was about to walk in when
someone got in my way.
“No entry.” A gamma wolf said coldly.
He folded his arms. “You’re not on the list. Beat it.”
I opened my mouth to speak again when a supercar came up right behind me. I quickly moved to the side just as it sped past where I stood.
What the hell was that for? I watched the car and after some seconds, the door popped open. A young looking she–wolf came out of the car.
“Bella is here.” She laughed gleefully.
