"If those interns were capable, they wouldn't want to settle for inheriting our family business in the first place. They could be doing other jobs." Shane broke off with a chuckle.

"There are better opportunities out there than working for us, which explains why the interns you hired were a bunch of inept blowhards."

Carlisle couldn't help but sigh. "What are you doing back here, anyway? Did you need something?"

Had Shane finally realized how tough it was to live without his family's support and decided to return for good?

"Of course," Shane replied, bringing out a notebook. I want to start a business. We've got the project, but we lack management experience and skills. So I figured I'd come to you for advice."

Carlisle stared at Shane evenly and realized how much the latter had grown since being thrown out of the house.

Back in the day, Shane refused to step foot into the company whenever Carlisle asked him to. But living outside the family home seemed to have done the young man some good, for he was coming up with business ideas.

Taking a seat, Carlisle patiently told Shane about the years he spent building up Winslow Group, sparing no details. Shane wrote them down word for word, not caring whether Carlisle's experiences were good or bad. It was only then that he realized how capable Carlisle was.

By the time he was done speaking, Carlisle was parched. He drank some water and said, "I could teach you more and show you the ropes if you ever decide to work in the company."

"Isn't this a good chance for you to hand over the company to me? Why don't you do that instead?" Shane asked, puzzled.

Carlisle fell silent. After a long moment, he answered, "Winslow Group has a different business nature from the company you plan on setting up. Our resources may not be what you need."

"Got it." Shane stood up and asked, "Are you cool with me staying here for the night, Dad?"

"Sure."

"Ah, it's the simpler things that are the hardest to accomplish," Douglas said wisely. He gave her an example, "First of all, you need to figure out the area where you want to rent your office. The monthly rental for offices close to the city is always exceptionally high. Could you afford that kind of rent?"

He wanted to give her some money to help her lay the groundwork for her business, but unless she asked for it, he didn't want to come off as overbearing.

Sasha considered Douglas' question and asked, "What if we were to rent a place on the outskirts of town?"

"It's feasible." Not wanting to spoon-feed her with ideas, Douglas decided to lead her instead. "But have you thought about whether your future team would want to commute to the outskirts of town for work?"

Sasha propped her elbows on the table and leaned forward to press her forehead against her palms. "In that case, I'll have to check out the costs of renting an office in town tomorrow."

"You'll have to rely on your own judgment for that. Secondly, what company policies do you have in mind?" Douglas asked.
