Portia exhaled a sigh of relief when she heard Zachary's calm tone over the phone. "That's good."

After ending the call, Zachary called Harry and instructed, "Bring your ID and meet me at the police station to pick me up."

"Understood," Harry replied. Zachary settled into the back seat of the police car, gazing out the window with an air of calm composure.

The officer sitting beside him couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy as he observed the boy.

"Why did your father hit you?" he asked gently.

Zachary blinked before answering calmly, "His woman was about to have surgery to terminate her pregnancy. When Dad tried to stop her, she told him it was because I told her my dad didn't want the baby. So, she acted on impulse and went to the hospital to have it terminated."

The officers in the car fell silent, digesting his words. One of them finally broke the silence. "Wait, isn't this woman your mother?"

"Of course not. Even before my mom divorced him, he was already secretly seeing her. She's his mistress."

The officer asked, "Did you really contact her?"

"Of course not. I'm focused on my studies right now. I don't have the time or interest to meddle in their affairs," Zachary said firmly, shaking his head.

The officer understood the situation. "So, you're saying your father blamed you unfairly?"

Zachary replied with a slight frown, "You could put it that way. Could you help me get a medical examination later? When he hit me, he used a lot of force. I think my ear might not be working properly anymore."

The officers exchanged concerned glances before saying, "All right. We'll make sure you get treatment while we're there."

"Thank you," Zachary said obediently.

The other party fell silent.

Zachary wasn't bothered. "If you don't want to take this opportunity to hit him where it hurts, I'll just find someone else."

Fearing that Zachary might approach someone else, the person quickly said, "There's no need for that. Give me the evidence. I'll handle it."

"All right."

After sending the final message, Zachary kept his phone and turned to look out the window.

The police guided him through all the necessary procedures and eventually noticed the extent of his ear injury. They took him for medical treatment, where the doctor grimly noted that if he had come any later, the damage might have been irreversible.

Though the situation was serious, the doctor assured Zachary that with proper care and a few months of recovery, his ear could be completely healed.
