Chapter 39 

Kane’s eyes narrowed, and he looked quietly at Perry, who stood his ground in defiance. 

“Really? Then, you can tell Lady Summers to come looking for me.” He pointed at Perry and said harshly, “Get out!” 

At that point, Perry had no choice but to leave with Ted. 

As soon as they got into their car, Ted began furiously pummeling the back of the seat in front of him. 

“I can’t accept this! Dad, why is Felix so lucky? How can he be a distant relative of Lord Kane? Are we really just going to give up?” He looked at his crippled arm, feeling his rage burn. 

There was an icy light in Perry’s eyes, and he gritted his teeth as he said, “Calm down. I’ll find a chance to test the waters with Xena! If we act recklessly and Xena doesn’t help us out, everything our family has worked hard for will be ruined!” 

The Goldwind Chamber of Commerce that Perry had established had only developed to its current scale because many prominent figures had helped him on account of Xena. They hadn’t done it for Perry at all. 

If those people learned that he and Xena were barely on speaking terms despite being relatives, everything would be ruined. 

“Dad, I understand. I’ll hold back for now. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t use my own ways to get back at Felix.” 

Hm? Perry looked over at Ted and seemed to think of something. “You want to drag those people down?” 

. “Yes! Although Avesburgh isn’t a major city, there are still many skilled people hidden here who don’t respect 

Lord Kane. I know a few of them. We’ll just have to see how we can stir up a conflict between them.” 

Perry nodded thoughtfully. “Go ahead. With how arrogant Felix is, I’m sure you’ll succeed if you do it properly. For my part, I’ll try and find a chance to talk to your cousin.” 

The last time Perry had bought Xena a meal, it had been because he was in trouble. However, he had been afraid to tell her when he met her. Ultimately, it was because she had helped too much. If he kept on trying to take from her so greedily, it was sure to have the opposite effect eventually. 

The next day, Felix woke up early and told the housekeeper to rest. He made his own breakfast as a way to show his thankfulness, as the salesperson had called last night to tell him that the villa would be available for sale that day. That meant that Felix would be moving out. 

“You’re up early, Felix.” Warren was slightly startled when he came down. 

“Enjoy your meal, Uncle Warren. I’ve already eaten, and I’ll be going out to deal with some errands.” 

Warren was in an excellent mood because they had managed to escape unscathed despite provoking Kane. ” Alright. Go ahead. Shall I ask Sasha to-” 

Felix hastily waved a hand. “No. Let Sasha sleep in. I’ll get a cab.” 

If he got further entangled with Sasha, he was sure he would go crazy, especially when he remembered how she had behaved the night before. It was disgusting! Even if they wouldn’t marry, she shouldn’t have poured salt on someone else’s wound. 

While he was on his way, he received a call from Wendy. “Felix, my family is having a banquet tonight to celebrate
