While on the road to Meadowspring, with only about three miles left to reach his destination, Felix suddenly slammed on the brakes. A BMW X6 had abruptly swerved in front of him, its brake lights flashing. A collision would’ve been inevitable if not for Felix’s quick reflexes. 

The road was already narrow to begin with, with only two lanes for traffic. While the BMW’s aggressive maneuver was extremely frustrating for any driver, Felix was in a hurry. Hence, he couldn’t be bothered to deal with it. 

With a swift turn of the steering wheel, he aimed to overtake the car. To his surprise, the BMW had also veered into the opposite lane, clearly intending to block him. 

Felix took a moment to assess the situation. The BMW had been driving at a crawl just ten minutes earlier, and Felix had honked a few times, but the driver had ignored him. It seemed like the driver was seeking revenge just because of those few honks. 

A wry smile crossed Felix’s face as he pressed the gas pedal, feinting a move to the right before quickly speeding past the BMW. 

Felix’s car soon reached the entrance to Meadowspring, and he pulled his car to a stop. To his surprise, the BMW X6 followed him, parking beside him. A young man, probably in his 20s, with bleached hair and an arrogant expression, stepped out of the car. 

“How dare 

you honk at my car?” he shouted. 

Felix, however, was more concerned with his mission to save someone and couldn’t be bothered with this small–time troublemaker. 

When the young man saw that Felix was ignoring him, his anger grew. 

“Hey! Are you from Meadowspring? You’re done for! Even the village chief has to respect me! Who do you think you are?” 

Felix frowned. Without a word, he turned around and struck the man with a palm. Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away. 

A dull thud rang out as the young man crumpled to the ground, clutching his stomach in 

agony. 

“You… you’re dead!” the man gasped, still writhing in pain. “Even if you’re a Martial Emperor, Meadowspring will have to answer for this!” 

Despite the sharp pain in his abdomen, the young man knew he wasn’t seriously injured. However, the pain was enough to fuel his fury. Clenching his teeth, he struggled to his feet and staggered into the village. 

“I will make you regret this! You’ll wish you’d never been born!”

Soon, Xerxes Tate stormed into Meadowsprings administration office. A middle–aged man who had been sipping his drink immediately got up to greet the young man. 

“You didn’t let me know you were coming, Mr. Tate. I would’ve gone to the village entrance to welcome you.” 

Xerxes, still fuming, shot him a confused look. Who are you? Where’s the village chief?” 

The man smiled and answered, “I’m the acting village chief of Meadowspring now. You can call me Leon.”
