The small square of Meadowspring was packed with people. The women were crying, and the men were no better, their faces full of sorrow. 

The cause of this collective sadness was Calum, the old village chief, whose contributions to the village were well–known to all. His downfall was a tragic event for everyone. 

Despite the grief, no one dared to speak out because of the power of the Saphira family. The Saphira family was the law, and no one could change that. Strictly speaking, Calum had indeed broken the rules, which was a fact, so the villagers could only send him off in this 

manner. 

At that moment, Calum appeared, flanked by two men dressed in traditional blue suits, symbolizing their direct Saphira lineage. If someone from the collateral branches of the family dared to wear those clothes, they would be executed on the spot. 

Among the crowd, a large man frowned. He was Pearly’s lackey.

Xerxes, following Leon, had just arrived. He almost laughed out loud when he saw Felix daring to interfere.

Giovanni’s words were domineering and final. It was clear that no matter what Felix said, he would be executed.
