That meant Nancy was ready to go all the way with him.

Before Cyrus could revel in his elation, his phone suddenly rang.

He answered immediately, and Caleb's voice came through.

“Mr. Gordon, Mr. Robertson’s visit to the police station should have nothing to do with Mrs. Gordon. Farley Robertson got locked up last night for assault, and Mr. Robertson was there to bail him out. He was there to pick up Farley from the station.”

Cyrus' pupils dilated, realizing Nancy and Baldrick's meeting was accidental.

“Alright.” Cyrus couldn't hide his joy, quickly turning to Nancy. “Nancy, I misunderstood you.”

Nancy’s face was a picture of scorn. “Oh really? Wasn’t I sneaking around with Baldrick?”

Cyrus knew Nancy was angry and apologized swiftly, “Nancy, I’m sorry. You don’t know that Baldrick still has his sights set on you. That’s why I panicked.”

"Nancy, you have no idea how much you mean to me. I'm terrified of losing you!"

By the end, Cyrus' eyes were red, his voice tinged with an indescribable grievance.

Nancy clenched her fists, feeling as if Cyrus' words were a slap in the face.

“Cyrus, do you care about me from your heart?” asked Nancy.

Cyrus answered with conviction, “Of course I do. No one cares about you more than I do.”

“I doubt that. When Hayley got swarmed by paparazzi, you left me behind to whisk her away.” Nancy scoffed, “A reporter even asked me if the baby Hayley’s carrying is yours! Forget them. I want to know if the child is yours or Norton’s!”

“It’s Norton’s, of course. Hayley almost had a miscarriage. So, I took her to the hospital. It doesn’t mean I care about her.” Cyrus blurted out, his voice tinged with urgency and a touch of anger at being exposed.
