Chapter 217: Time Had Stopped Here
Angela POV
On the Shaw family’s jet, I watched Aria and Ethan sleep beside me. After everything we’d endured, we were finally safe.
Thomas approached from the front cabin. “Mrs. Wilson, we’ll be landing in approximately two hours.”
He hesitated before continuing. “I’ve notified Mr. Shaw’s parents about the children. They’ll meet you at the airport.”
My stomach tightened, I hadn’t seen Victoria and Alexander Shaw in five years.
“Victoria and Alexander are coming?” I whispered.
“Yes. However, Mr. Shaw specifically instructed that if you have any discomfort, this meeting can be canceled immediately. The decision is entirely yours.”
Something warm unfurled in my chest. Sean was putting me first, giving me control.
“That won’t be necessary,” I said. “I’m just uncertain how to face them after everything.”
I turned my attention to my children. This wasn’t a conversation I could postpone any longer.
“Aria, Ethan,” I called softly as the plane began its descent. “There’s something important I need to tell you.”
They rubbed sleepy eyes as I continued, “When we land, your grandmother and grandfather will be waiting for us.”
“Grandparents?” Ethan asked cautiously. “Like in my storybooks?”
“Yes,” I confirmed. “Remember how you’ve been asking about Mr. Night becoming your daddy?”
Aria’s eyes widened. “Mommy, have you finally agreed?”
I nodded, smiling despite my nervousness. “Yes. Does that make you happy?”
Aria squealed with delight while Ethan remained cautious.
“Mr. Night–Sean–is actually your father. Your real father,” I explained.
Aria looked confused. “But Mommy, didn’t you say our daddy died in a yacht accident?”
My chest tightened as my own lie returned to haunt me.
“That’s complicated,” I admitted. “I didn’t tell you the complete truth then. Your father didn’t die in that accident. He was badly hurt, and we were separated for a long time. But now he’s back in our lives.”
It wasn’t perfect, but it would do for now. The full truth–the misunderstandings, Christina’s role–was too complex for their young
minds.
So Mr. Night is really our daddy?” Aria asked excitedly.
“Yes,” I nodded, relieved by their acceptance. “And his parents are very excited to meet you.”
At JFK’s private terminal, Victoria and Alexander Shaw waited beside a sleek limousine. Victoria’s composed facade cracked slightly

as she took in the children’s unmistakably Shaw features.
Aria, Ethan,” I said, leading them forward. “This is your grandmother and grandfather,
Victoria knelt gracefully, opening her arms. “Hello, my darlings.”
Hello, Grandmother. Hello, Grandfather, they replied politely.
Victoria’s eyes glistened. “Please, call me Grandma.”
Alexander, usually formal and distant, surprised me by crouching bede his wife.
“My goodness,” he said wonderingly. “You both look so much like your father did at your age.
While the Shaw couple monopolized the children’s attention, I stood awkwardly to the side. It felt strange witnessing this family reunion I had prevented for five years.
“Come,” Victoria said, taking each child by the hand. “Let’s go home,
Home. The word echoed strangely in my mind.
The Shaw family apartment hadn’t changed in five years–same elegant furnishings, same tasteful art, same view of Central Park
Time had stopped here, waiting for our return.
When I was shown to the bedroom, I froze in the doorway. Our wedding photo still sat on the nightstand, and in the walk–in closet hung my clothes, completely dust–free. Sean must have instructed the staff to regularly maintain the room.
It all felt surreal, as if I’d stepped back in time.
As I stood there lost in thought, Victoria entered quietly behind me. She guided me to the living room sofa.
Victoria took my hands with unexpected warmth. “Angela, these years must have been so difficult, raising the children alone.”
Her simple acknowledgment broke something inside me. Tears welled in my eyes.
“Don’t cry, dear,” she soothed. “You’re home now. What happened was Sean’s fault, and we’ll make sure he makes it up to you.”
“I thought after all this time, you might not want me anymore.”
“We’ve always wanted you, Angela. You were always meant to be part of this family.” Victoria said, pulling me into a tight embrace.
Over an extravagant dinner, Victoria and Alexander doted on the children. Alexander questioned Ethan about his interests while Victoria ensured Aria’s plate was always full.
“The children have really grown to love life in New York,” I mentioned. “They’ve adjusted well.”
Victoria exchanged a glance with her husband. “Since they’re already settled here, Alexander and I have decided to return from Europe permanently.”
I nearly choked. “You’re moving back to New York?”
“Of course,” Victoria said simply. “We’ve missed too many years already. We won’t miss anymore.
