CHAPTER NINE novel The Shadow Alpha

As time went on, we grew closer as a family. Their sudden arrival was a huge shock to the whole pack, but nevertheless they trusted me and welcomed my family with open arms.

Ana or Princess- as I refer to Tatiana, is a little mini me. She was over the moon with excitement when our parents introduced me as her sister and while she may not have understood the situation, she was never hesitant in showing me all her love.

As of late, other packs around us have been reporting increased rogue activity. We have since increased the guard around the borders and made training compulsory for every male and female wolf between the ages of fifteen and forty.

My appointed board which consisted of Papa Jamie, Jacob, Dristan and recently, my father and I have come up with a functional action plan if a rogue attack were to occur. We are hoping that it doesn’t come to that, but should it ever, we want to be ready.

We were trying to pinpoint the rogue settlement to be able to assess which surrounding packs would be most at risk, we have a hunch that there is more than one rogue settlement and so far we have only found one possible location. The plan is to pinpoint all the possible areas and stake them out at once, we will plan our next move once we are able to track them. All of us were hunched over the large map of the surrounding packs within a seven hundred mile radius; the reported rogue activity came primarily from packs within this area and a few outside.

We were discussing a common area just outside California when my office phone rang. Jake being the closest, answered and put it on the loud speaker.

“Good Morning, is this the Alpha of Blue Moon Pack?” a voice echoed as it bounced off the soundproof walls of my office.

I froze, my thoughts came to a halt in my mind as I stared at the phone like it would suddenly come alive.

Noticing my frozen state, Jake cleared his throat and spoke up, “No, you’re speaking to Jacob- Beta of the Blue Moon Pack. What can I do for you?” his voice was stern, I could feel the unease rolling off him, no doubt due to my own frozen state.

“This is Alpha Devin Summers of the Full Moon Pack; I have called to ask for your assistance.” Everyone in the room’s face turned dangerous and Jake made to cut off the call, but I grabbed his hand, snapping from my trance.

‘Ask him for what.’ I mind linked him using my Alpha tone knowing full well that if I didn’t he would argue or fight. His eyes narrowed, but he didn’t dare question my authority.

“What kind of assistance?” there was a brief pause which was probably out of confusion at Jake’s tone.

“Our pack was attacked last night by a large group of rogues, there were few fatalities but many wolves were badly injured. During the attack our pack house and many if not all surrounding houses of pack members were destroyed. My pack is in shambles and our borders have been left unguarded, I fear another attack. The 130 pack members that survived need shelter and safety urgently.” By the identical looks on their faces I could that they were not even considering the idea of helping him.

They might have been the worst pack to me and made a lot of my life difficult but as The Shadow wolf, it is my duty to serve and protect my fellow wolves.

I stepped closer and put the call hold and looked at the guy’s furious faces.

“NO! Absolutely not, Allison!” Papa Jamie warned, shaking his head; I looked into their eyes and saw fear and anger for me.

I sighed loudly, “Guys… Mother Selene bestowed me with the honour of being the Shadow Wolf; it is my duty to assist and protect any and all werewolves.” They sighed in annoyance,

“I am stronger now, I have all of you helping me and supporting me. I am no longer that little vulnerable girl, I am the strongest alpha in the world and I have the best family a girl could ask for. I have forgiven them and moved on; I need you guys to do the same.” I saw their defeated looks and knew they saw it from my perspective.

“Good. It should take them five hours to travel and reach our borders, tell them that we will meet them at the south border at 4pm this afternoon. That gives them nine hours to round up the pack and the rest of their belongings and reach here.” I said leaving no room for argument, Jake nodded and unmuted the phone.

“We have discussed it with the Alpha and come to a decision. You will have nine hours to get your pack to the south border of the Blue Moon territory, we will meet you there at 4pm this afternoon, understand?” his voice held authority and although he was a Beta, he was a strong one.

Devin agreed immediately and the call was cut.

“Well it looks like we have 130 new guests arriving soon, put away the map and gather in the backyard for a pack meeting.” They all nodded and dispersed.
