Noelle’s voice rang out loud and clear in the elevator. Hendrix, however, had gone completely silent. 

At that moment, Noelle pried his last finger off her wrist and took a step back. 

Hendrix suddenly felt an emptiness in his palm. His fingers instinctively curled slightly before he seemed to snap 

out of it. 

He turned toward her and, with some difficulty, said, “I didn’t.” 

That feeble explanation drew a faint laugh from Noelle. Of course, she wouldn’t believe his excuse. After all, the words that came out without thinking were often the truest 

In his eyes, she was nothing more than someone who went around flirting with others. Noelle hadn’t forgotten- this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened He had accused her of the same thing before, even dragging up the past with William to humiliate her. 

Just then, the elevator let

Hendrix took a deep breath and said, “Come with me first. 

“Forget it. I want to go back.” Noelle stayed rooted in place I’m bored here anyway. Might as well go back and sleep.” 

“I just have a bit of work left. Once I’m done, we’ll leave together.” 

“I don’t-” 

Before Noelle could finish her sentence, Hendrix seemed to lose his patience entirely. Without warning, he lifted her over his shoulder. 

“What are you doing? Hendrix, put me down!” 

The elevator stopped at the top floor of Amity Group’s headquarters. This floor housed not only Hendrix’s office but also the secretary’s office just outside. 

As Hendrix carried Noelle out, the commotion immediately caught the attention of everyone in the secretary’s moffice. 

Noelle could see the astonished gazes of the people in the office. For a moment, she even forgot to struggle as Hendrix carried her straight into his office. The door shut quickly behind them, and before she could react, he pressed her down onto the couch. 

She had just eaten, and with the sudden pressure on her stomach, a wave of nausea surged up instantly. But Hendrix didn’t notice her discomfort. His hands were braced on either side of her, his eyes locking onto hers with an intense glare. 

“I don’t care about Nathan’s identity! I’m not the least bit afraid of him joining Amity Group or trying to take anything from me. What I care about is that face of his! I know exactly what seeing his face makes you think of, and that’s what I can’t stand. 

“Noelle, you listen to me. He’s Nathan, not me, and certainly not the me you used to love! I can’t stand the way you look at him with those eyes. Those ayes of yours–they can only ever look at me like that. Do you understand?”
