Chapter 420
When Hendrix woke up, he was in the hospital. He blinked a few times, and as his consciousness slowly returned, he suddenly remembered something.
Immediately, he tried to push himself up, but a sharp, tearing pain shot through his wound. He turned even paler in the face, yet he ignored the pain and turned to look for Noelle.
“Mr. Freeman!”
Dan noticed his movements right away and rushed over without hesitation, forcibly pressing him back down.
“You just woke you, so don’t move. Otherwise, your wound will tear open.
Hendrix didn’t care about any of that. He grabbed Dan’s wrist in return and asked, “Where’s Noelle? Where is she? Is she hurt?”
“Rest assured that Mrs. Freeman is fine she wasn’t injured at all,” Dan replied quickly.
At those words, Hendrix finally let out a breath of relief. But soon, he frowned again and looked toward the door.
That look in his eyes–the message was clear.
immediately understood and quickly explained, “Mr. Freeman, Mrs. Freeman was here the whole time yesterday. I was just worried she’d exhaust herself, so I persuaded her to go back and rest.”
His explanation sounded reasonable enough, but Hendrix smiled bitterly. “Is that so?”
A rhetorical question–one laced with clear skepticism because he didn’t believe it.
He knew exactly how much Noelle despised him.
Even on their wedding day, she hadn’t spared him so much as a smile. Even if Sandra hadn’t suddenly rushed in, Hendrix had already doubted whether their wedding would have made it to the end.
At the time, he had even wondered if Dylan had suddenly appeared, would Noelle have left with him without hesitation?
At least now, he didn’t have to worry about that anymore.
“It’s true, Mr. Freeman,” Dan added quickly when he noticed the coldness in Hendrix’s eyes. “And Mrs. Freeman even told me to call her as soon as you wake up. I’ll contact her right now-”
“No need,” Hendrix interrupted. “Didn’t you say she should get some rest? Let her rest, then.”
There was a distinct hint of mockery in his tone.
Dan suddenly didn’t know what to say.
Just then, the doctor walked in to check on Hendrix.
His condition was relatively stable. The stab wound was deep, but luckily, it hadn’t hit any vital organs.
Alter resting for a bit, Hendrix began handling business matters. He focused on reassuring the board members at Amity Group and dealing with Sandra and Nathan.
Sandra would undoubtedly be convicted, but Nathan couldnt be held accountable. On the surface, all he had done was ball Sandra out–legally and by the book. What she did after that was beyond his control.
Hendrix hadn’t planned to charge him with anything anyway. For now, he simply instructed Dan to keep a close

Dan quickly acknowledged the order and handed over the company documents he had brought from the office.
