Chapter 421
Hendrix stiffened. He was even doubting if he had misheard something.
When he looked up, he saw Noelle frowning at Dan as she asked, almost accusingly, “Didn’t he just wake up not too long ago?”
“Yes, but the doctor has examined him, Mrs. Freeman. Mr. Freeman is…” Dan wanted to explain further, but his voice trailed off as he looked at Noelle. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Freeman.”
Noelle said nothing. She stepped forward and took the documents away from Hendrix’s hands.
“I made you some soup,” she said. “Get some rest after you’ve eaten it.”
Hendrix didn’t respond.
Noelle bit her lip, thinking he was angry because she had his things kept away, “You just woke up not too long ago. You need to rest.”
Still, Hendrix was silent.
On the other end, Dan had quickly caught on. He swiftly kept the documents away and backed out of the room slowly, closing the door for them.
Hendrix didn’t pay much attention to him. He was still staring at Noelle.
Noelle could feel the heat in his gaze. She didn’t continue looking at him. Instead, she lowered her head and twisted the lid off the food container.
The sweet aroma of the soup wafted out and filled the entire room. It was still too hot to consume, so Noelle scooped some out into a bowl for Hendrix.
Suddenly, his hand shot out, grasping her wrist, causing Noelle to freeze. She pursed her lips, trying to pull her hand out, but Hendrix tightened his grip quickly.
Noelle flinched in pain as she was forced to look at him.
Hendrix stared intently at her and asked, “Is this for me?”
Noelle thought his question was a little ridiculous. They were the only ones in the ward, and he was the patient. If this wasn’t for him, who else would it be for?
However, before her smile could fully form, she felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.
After pausing for a while, she let out a soft grunt of affirmation and added, “I’ve laced it with poison.”
Hendrix initially didn’t dare to believe his eyes. He felt like what he was seeing was all just a dream–the one he wove for himself because he longed too badly to reconcile with her.
However, once Noelle had spoken, he instantly knew he wasn’t seeing things.
His lips curled into a smile as he said, “Is that so? It’s fine. If you made it, I’d drink it all up even if it’s poison.”
Noelle didn’t say anything else. She yanked her hand out forcefully and passed him the bowl of soup.
“Feed me,” Hendrix muttered.
Noelle was taken aback as she stared at him, dumbfounded
Hendrix pointed at his wound and whimpered, “Every time raise my hand, it hurts here. Weren’t you the one
