Hendrix's voice was low, and when it came through the video call, it carried an extra layer of magnetism.

Noelle paused for a moment, then asked, "Have you been drinking?"

"How did you know?" Hendrix chuckled, then showed her where he was. "Look. The dinner's not over yet."

He was standing in a hallway, with classic oil paintings hanging on the walls. To the side was a slightly ajar private room door.

Noelle fell silent, her brows furrowing slightly.

"Don't worry. I'll be leaving soon," Hendrix said, as if reading her thoughts. "The people inside are from Tilwick's television station. I needed to discuss some matters with them and thought I might as well treat them to dinner."

He then added, "They're all men."

Noelle let out a soft laugh, as if she found his clarification amusing.

Hendrix raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you want to come?"

"What?"

"I've noticed the scenery here is quite nice," Hendrix continued.

Noelle frowned. "Have you handled everything?"

"Yeah, it's pretty much done," Hendrix replied. "The construction team has identified the person responsible, and the victim's family has been taken care of. The TV station will be covering all this tomorrow."

"If it's all handled, then you should be able to come back now."

Hendrix paused, then said, "If I go back… Well, Rosie's there, right?"

"What?"

"I mean, the scenery here is really nice. I could show you around. But Rosie has school, doesn't she?"

The next day, during dinner, Noelle mentioned her plan to pick up Hendrix. To her surprise, Rosie said she wanted to tag along.

Noelle was about to agree when Beatrice interjected, "You have school tomorrow, Rosie. The flight doesn't arrive until 9:00 pm. By the time you get back, it'll be late—you won't be able to wake up on time tomorrow."

Rosie's head drooped in disappointment.

Seeing this, Noelle quickly said, "It's fine. We'll probably be back at 10:00 pm. It shouldn't be too—"

"No. You two can go straight back to Roselle Court after picking him up. I'll take Rosie there after school tomorrow," Beatrice said.

Noelle immediately caught on to what Beatrice was implying. Her words caught in her throat. She instinctively wanted to argue, but as she opened her mouth, the tips of her ears turned red first.

Noticing this, Beatrice smiled even more. "Now then, you'd best get going. Don't worry, Rosie's going to be just fine here."
