Mitchell’s face lit up with a smile as he suddenly strode outside. 

“Where do you think you’re going, you brat!” Cody was visibly upset. 

Mitchell opened the door but paused. He said, “What happened back then wasn’t an accident. You’ll soon regret everything you said today!” 

After stating that, Mitchell closed the door and left, leaving the Nelson family with mixed expressions. 

Rebecca clutched her heaving chest, thinking about Mitchell’s parting words, frowning in confusion. “What did Mitchell mean by that? It wasn’t an accident back then?” 

Felix frowned and said, “Could it be that what Mitchell was talking about was that the switched–at–birth incident wasn’t an accident?” 

“If it wasn’t an accident, then what was it?” Cody’s face changed drastically, and he said angrily, “He’s been completely manipulated by Shakira and can’t even tell truth from lies anymore!” 

Finn rubbed his temples, feeling a bit uneasy. “Mitchell is impulsive. I’ll have someone keep an eye on him just in case.” Yvette, who was drinking soup with her head down, suddenly paused, nearly dropping the spoon into the bowl

Mitchell walked out of the Paniago Hotel, got in the car, and found an old phone. Once it powered on, he dialed Shakira’s number.. 

After two rings, Shakira answered the phone. Her voice was clear and cold, “Mitchell.” 

Mitchell was surprised, “How did you know it was me? You really are my sister, so smart!” 

Before she could speak, Mitchell chuckled softly, then adjusted his tone and said, “I apologize for tonight. If I had known they would say such hurtful things, I wouldn’t have insisted on you coming.” 

Shakira could sense the sadness in his voice from that sentence. Shakira brushed it off, “It’s fine. I expected it.” 

Mitchell laughed at himself, “Is that why you didn’t agree from the start?” 

Suddenly, Mitchell’s throat tightened and asked, “Have you already lost hope in the whole family?” 

Shakira promptly responded with certainty, “Yes.” 

Mitchell took a deep breath, “But it’s alright, they’re just in the dark and don’t know the truth. Give me a little more time, and soon, very soon, they will change their minds.” 

At this moment, Shakira was already on her way back to the Eastlake Valley Estate. The streets on both sides were bustling, with colorful neon lights flashing across the car windows. 

The vibrant colors flowed into the car, reflecting on Shakira’s face. The shifting lights created a patchwork of light and shadow, making it hard to discern her true emotions. 

She didn’t know what Mitchell intended to do, but she was more certain that no matter what he did, it wouldn’t change anything for her. She disdained the hope offered by the Nelson family.

“No way!” Mitchell said firmly, “This time, I’m not going to let you down. Just wait and see!”

After that he hung it up. He looked at the location sent to him and started the navigation. The red Porsche shot off like a dart from a bów. 

The address was more than two hundred kilometers from Crescentville, in a nearby small town. 

Mitchell had never been to that place, but he was agitated and eager to find the nurse and clear things up from back then. 

So many coincidences couldn’t just be chance. He had a strong feeling that something was definitely wrong with the Smith family. 

On the highway, he floored the gas pedal. It was almost dawn when Mitchell arrived at the town indicated by the location. 

He asked the toll booth staff and found out that the location was in the mountains. The staff said, “To get up there, you’ll have to go through several winding roads. Outsiders without experience wouldn’t dare driving up at night. Young man, you’d better find a place to rest and go tomorrow.” 

Mitchell thanked him and said, “No worries, I’m a seasoned driver.” The staff wanted to advise him further, but Mitchell was already stepping on the gas pedal. 

He followed the location up the winding mountain roads, and the narrow, curvy paths started to wear on him after hours of continuous driving. 

He kept his eyes fixed ahead, gripping the steering wheel tightly, and continued driving forward. The higher he went, the steeper the hill became, and even the high–performance sports car started to struggle a bit. 

The winding road ahead seemed endless, and Mitchell felt a bit annoyed, so he made a phone call. Soon, the call connected. and the background noise on Slade’s end was loud, like he was in a bustling bar. 

Mitchell had to call out several times before Slade finally understood. “Slade, are you sure she’s really in these mountains? Why would she be hiding out here?” 

Slade was totally confused, “What are you talking about? What mountains?” 

Mitchell cursed, “Did you get drunk or something? Wasn’t it you who sent me the location?!” 

Slade was even more bewildered after being scolded, “No way, bro, you must be mistaken. I’ve been here drinking and hanging out all night. You said you wanted to welcome your brother, so I didn’t bother your family reunion. When did I send you any message?” 

Mitchell suddenly slammed on the brakes, a thought quickly formed in his mind.
