She called Sean, who sounded surprised. “Shakira, I thought you wouldn’t have time for a call.” 

The background noise on Shakira’s end was filled with meowing “I’m cleaning the cat’s nest. You can talk. I’ve got some things to discuss too.” 

Sean protested loudly, “I want to see the cat too! Let’s video chat And without waiting for Shakira’s response, he switched to video mode. 

Shakira had no choice but to accept. As soon as the video connected, Sean’s view was filled with Shakira’s blushing, delicate face, taking up the entire screen. 

Sean muttered, “No way, Shakira. Is taking care of cats so exhausting that just cleaning their nest makes you blush?” 

Shakira cleared her throat, trying to change the subject. “What’s up? You first.” 

Sean said, “Oh, right. It’s not a big deal, really. Just wanted to let you know that Keith, the software engineer who was building the Virmo foundation, suddenly sent me a resignation email tonight.” 

“So suddenly?” Shakira was surprised. 

Sean said, “Yeah, there have been people trying to poach the Virmo team lately. I thought I’d give you a heads–up to prevent any mishaps.” 

Shakira reassured him, “It’s okay. If he wants to leave, let him go. He was mostly handling the basics; the crucial stuff wasn’t handed to him.” 

Sean said, “That’s a relief! If he tries to take Virmo stuff to another company, I won’t let him get away with it.” 

As Sean spoke, he caught a glimpse of the back of Shakira diligently cleaning the litter box on the screen and shifted his gaze around the room to see how Walter, that dog of a man, 

had set up her space. 

But he didn’t forget the main point either. “Shakira, what did you want to talk to me about?” 

Shakira continued her task. “Sean, I need you to step in and facilitate the collaboration between Virmo and Lopez Group.” 

Her calm statement was like a bombshell, leaving Sean completely stunned. He said, “Wait, what? Shakira, you’re dating Walter, and now you want to hand Virmo over to him?” 

His outburst scared the cats near the phone, causing them to scatter. Shakira picked up the phone and explained helplessly, “It’s a collaboration, not a gift. Virmo provides the technology, and Lopez Group provides the funds. It’s mutually beneficial.” 

Sean didn’t buy it. “Shakira, come on, you can’t fool me. Others might not know, but I do. 

“I can bet that across all of Crescentville–no, all of the nation–there’s no one with a higher individual cash flow in their account than you. Not even Walter! And you’re telling me you’re doing this for the money?” 

Shakira was taken aback. “I have that much money?”
