In an empty bathroom, Han Joon stared at his reflection in the mirror. Or at least he tried,
For the last forty-six seconds, he hadn’t been able to see anything. Not that his view went black; rather, everything went white as if he was flooded with a blinding light. Snow blindness. Yeah--it was like that.
"Haa..." he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Snow blindness would go away after a while, so this must be too.
"Joon?"
Slowly, Han Joon opened his eyes when he heard his darling’s voice. This time, he could see the void in his eyes, and the stern expression he always wore on the outside, to the point that sometimes, he had no idea which one was truly him.
But when he heard his darling’s approaching footsteps, a smile came to his eyes and lips, and his face softened just like that. Just like always, only for him. Only and because of him, his lovely darling.
He turned around and walked out of the bedroom. See? The world looked clearer the moment his darling entered his vision. He could no longer think about that momentary blindness if his mind was full of this lovely specimen turning around the corner.
"Yes, darling?"
"Oh, there you are," Radia stopped and let his husband walk toward him instead. He tilted his head toward the front door and smirked. "Can you hear your little brother shouting out there?"
"That’s why I’m hiding," Han Joon shrugged, prompting a laugh to escape Radia’s lips--which he kissed lovingly the moment he arrived in front of the summoner. "Let’s go."
Time had been rolling splendidly, and all of their friend group had gotten married. They even had their own place to live, away from each other, and yet...for some reason, they still gathered in Radia’s mansion to play.
"Hyung!" Han Shin, who still looked like a young adult despite being a few months away from being thirty, still hugged his older brother like a child.
Han Joon sighed and flicked his brother’s forehead. "You’re about to be a father, be more dignified."
"Do I stop being your dongsaeng if I have a kid?" Han Shin tilted his head.
"Smartass."
"Hehe..."
Han Joon rolled his eyes, but gave a pat to the healer nonetheless before welcoming the other guests--his brother’s wife and best friends. Naturally, his twin godsons too, who greeted him happily in their own way.
"N’kel!" Asa, who started to speak before his twin, loved to show off his vocabulary to anyone, waving his tiny hand from Bassena’s hold.
But as always, the one with action first talk later got to Joon first. "Kel!" Kar wobbled toward his favorite uncle, and Han Joon picked him up with a chuckle.
"You’re still this energetic in this summer heat?"
Kar laid his chubby cheek on Joon’s shoulder. "A’kel...co’d...good..."
"You like it because my skin is cooling you?" Han Joon laughed and reached out so his brother’s pregnant wife could hold his hand.
While Han Joon led Reina and Zein inside, Radia looked at the other two. "You people know you live in a place with a sea and the lake in your front yard, don’t you?"
"Yeah, but those are too big for the kids," Bassena shrugged, flicking his fingers so his children of darkness could bring everyone’s luggage inside the mansion.
"Then build a pool," Radia rolled his eyes. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Han Shin scoffed. "Why would we do that when there’s a sea and a lake in our yard?"
"You punk!"
Han Shin laughed and ran away into the mansion, catching up with his brother and pregnant wife after kidnapping a giggling Asa from Bassena as a shield. The little gremlin was always happy being put into speed, so Bassena let him.
Could be a little training for the real thing five months later.
"He could just come whenever he wanted; why the need to make a reason for every visit?" Radia shook his head exasperatedly.
"Because he never changed," Bassena scoffed. "But well...it’s also to limit himself," he added with a chuckle. "He’d want to visit all the time without that limitation, but he doesn’t want to disturb you two."
Radia smiled, watching the cheerful back of the people he could easily call friends rather than colleagues. "I know that."
"Then you also know he vented that by disturbing me instead?" Bassena grumbled.
Radia patted the platinum hair while laughing. Amongst everyone, Bassena looked like he needed a vacation the most. People would think he was a corporate slave who had never seen a day off in his life from that stubble and dark circles.
"I had no idea how you did it all this time," Bassena groaned. He had thought being a Guildmaster wouldn’t be that different from being its deputy.
But oh--he knew nothing.
He thought he was quite good at desk work before, but he had no idea the stuff he used to do was not even a quarter of what a Guildmaster had to face. Not to mention, the Far East District was a new territory bordering the sea. The Trinity branch in Lucre, naturally, carried the responsibility to clear the sea dungeon.
