With two babies and a pregnant woman there, Radia naturally took a precaution by getting rid of any unhealthy beverage in this casual party house, so Han Shin didn’t have to worry about his wife’s intake.
Since there didn’t seem to be anything wrong, the kid in the healer’s hands pursed his lips and smacked the water surface in protest. "Moaaa! A’en!"
"Huh? What?" Han Shin tilted his head as the water kept splashing wildly.
Zein walked to the poolside and reached out to stop the smacking hands, staring at his son with a stern smile. "He said ’again’," Zein said while moving the small hands up and down on the water surface, but slower this time.
Asa giggled and smacked the water’s surface again, gentler than before. "A’en!"
"Oh! Let’s go again!" Han Shin laughed and shifted to the pool chair where the other twin was. "Hyung, let’s have them on tandem ring tubes."
Han Joon glanced at the line of swimming tubes waiting to be used. There were two of each, just in case the twins wanted to have the same one. Tubes shaped like cars, like airplanes, like animals, or basic ring-shaped ones. Radia truly went all out despite his complain abaout them using the mansion as a resort.
He smiled and stroked the black hair of the older twin. "Do you want to go into the water?"
"Ung..." Kar looked at his twin, who was happily splashing water on their Dada. He turned around and tapped on his uncle’s cool jaw. "A’kel?"
Han Joon chuckled and patted the dark hair again. "Yeah, with me."
"Ung!"
Kar gasped a little when his uncle grabbed him and he was suddenly getting taller, higher. It felt like flying when Uncle Joon lifted him up in the air and he swooped right into an airplane--although the airplane was in the water. "How’s this?"
Kar did not particularly want any specific tube, but Asa loved anything fast and flying, including an airplane, so he nodded. He moved his little feet in the water while Uncle Joon’s cold hands held the side of the tube. In front of him, in a similar airplane tube, Asa was splashing around saying ’Go! Go!’ while Uncle Shin pulled a cord connected to the tubes.
Slowly, the tubes started moving across the pool, and Kar grabbed the cold fingers on the side of the tube, making sure Uncle Joon was really there with him.
"Pfft--I think Kar will follow his words more than Bas’s," Reina laughed.
"Meaning I can start leaving them in their godparents’ hands," Zein smirked while glancing at the summoner.
Radia scoffed behind his sunglasses. "Only after you finish with potty training."
"Huh...I thought you’d just call for a nanny."
Radia lifted his sunglasses and frowned at the guide. "A random nanny for my godchildren? Are you crazy?"
Zein laughed lightly, but he was honestly surprised. Of course, he didn’t ask Radia and Joon to be his sons’ godfathers in jest, but he also didn’t think they would take it that seriously. Seventy percent of the twins’ educational toys and motoric exercises back in Ishtera Hill were gifts from Radia and Joon, and just looking at how the house pool turned into a full-blown waterpark already told him that Radia did not play.
Now he said he would even babysat them himself instead of using a nanny full-time and only playing with them an hour or two? Zein was pleasantly surprised.
They might have no intention of becoming fathers, but they sure as hell were a pair of good godfathers.
"But I think Bas needs that service now, dear in-law," Reina giggles as she pointed at the sprawled Saint-class on the chaize lounge, completely shaded by the canopy.
"...what?" Bassena opened his eyes and raised his brow when he heard his name again.
"Hello there, Guildmaster~"
"Fuck you."
"Language!" Reina gasped and covered her barely showing stomach. "Your sons and niece are listening!"
Bassena groaned and raised his back to sit properly on the chair, shaking his head. He never had a problem with clearing dungeons back to back, but all that Guildmaster stuff and child-rearing sapped his energy like nobody’s business.
Zein chuckled and stood up to deliver a refreshing water to his husband, stroking the dark circles that seemed to want to stay permanently there. "I told you it’s fine to just focus on your work for a while," he said in amusement. "We have Ayya and the household kids, and it’s not my first time raising a twin."
"I know, but..." Bassena pursed his lips.
He knew Zein did not particularly need his help with the twins, even without Ayya. He already did everything with limited paraphernalia with Hayden and Aiden, so taking care of Kar and Asa with all kinda of modern tools was actually easier for him. Not to mention he could ’work’ from home, with assistants, instead of toiling for a few coins in a rogue guild.
Bassena, on the other hand, had to learn everything from scratch, including how to change diapers and make the baby’s milk. Once the twins could eat something other than milk, of course Bassena also wanted to make them himself, and had to learn how to make baby food too.
But it wasn’t about helping for him. "I want to play with them too..." he grumbled.
He wanted to spend time with then, to be useful for them, to look cool to them. He wanted to be a father that the twins could be proud of, but also remembered to be always there during their growth. Of course, above anything else, it was because his sons were the most adorable things in the world.
How could he let Zein monopolize them?
Zein chuckled and patted the esper’s cheek. "Ah, you’re still cute."
Once again, Reina laughed and clapped her hands. "The unbeatable Serpent Lord’s stamina is nothing in front of his sons!"
