Jessica naturally noticed Jacob’s Hittle scheme but didn’t call him out on it.

When Jacob rested his head on her shoulder, Jessica glanced down at him.

Jessica pretended not to notice his distress and picked up a strawberry from the bowl beside her, taking a bite.

ceyes lit up for a moment, and he pressed closer to her, as if afraid she might push him away the next second.

In this rare moment of peace, Jessica’s attention wasn’t focused on Jacob,

Suddenly, she felt a weight on her lap. Looking down, she found Jacob sprawled across her legs, still clutching the card decorated with little gold stars in darsin his hand, already fast asleep.

Jacob looked so much like Brian, especially when sleeping with his eyes closed. Right now he looked so sweet and innocent, with his long eyelashes like tiny brushes and his young face still round with baby fat.

Jessica let out a silent sigh. She could tell Jacob had gotten thinner since the last time she’d seen him.

“Mommy”

Jacob murmured in his sleep, snuggling closer against her legs and nestling into her embrace.

Jessica’s eyes reflected a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite define.

Downstairs, Stella tiptoed to the staircase and listened carefully. Hearing nothing unusual, she quietly retreated down.

Half an hour passed, and Jacob still hadn’t been sent away. A smile gradually spread across Stella’s face.

When Brian arrived at 10:30 PM to pick up Jacob, Stella went upstairs and found Jacob fast asleep in Jessica’s bed. His jacket had been removed, and he

was sleeping soundly.

Thrilled by this development, Stella silently made her way back downstairs. “Jake’s already asleep, Why don’t you come back for him tomorrow night?”

Tomorrow was Sunday, and Stella was already planning a full day of fun activities with her grandson.

Brian hadn’t expected Jessica to let Jacob stay overnight, especially since she’d refused the last time.

By the time Jacob got up, Jessica had already left. To make it up to him, Stella and Dereck took him to breakfast and then to the mall for some fun.”
