“But if that’s the case, I really don’t get what he’s trying to do. It can’t be that he only realized you were his true love all along after you left. How utterly ridiculous!” she scoffed.
Brian once had Jessica’s love, and she had always treated her well. However, he never appreciated her. Now that she was gone, suddenly he turned all affectionate. It was just pathetic.
“Yeah, it’s so ironic,” Jessica sighed.
“As the saying goes, ‘Too little, too late.‘ Jessi, don’t you dare fall for his act again,” Gabriela said firmly.
She was a die–hard supporter of her bestie dumping Brian.
“There are plenty of good men out there! Once you’ve delivered these two little bundles, I’ll set you up right away. You’ll have your pick–fresh–faced young hunks, adorable puppy–dog types, rugged macho men, or silver fox daddies.
“Bottom line, we’re not wasting another second on that dead–end Brian!” Gabriela declared, her voice full of passion.
Just as she finished speaking, the very man she’d just been badmouthing spoke up behind her.
“Time for your IV change,” Brian said.
He walked to the bedside, efficiently removing the empty drip bag.
“W–When did you get in here?” Gabriela stammered, her face flushing crimson as she realized she’d been caught gossiping about Brian right in front of him.
She shot Jessica an accusing glare, clearly blaming her.
“Why didn’t you warn me?” her eyes seemed to say.
Jessica sighed inwardly. She was basically squeezing Gabriela’s hand, but she failed to notice. How was that her fault?
Brian didn’t say a word, simply focusing on changing Jessica’s IV, his expression unreadable.
When Brian didn’t respond with his usual cold, oppressive glare, Gabriela regained her nerve.
She snapped, “Cat got your tongue?”
“Don’t just stand there in silence. I know you heard me! Listen, Brian, I don’t care what you’re thinking. Since you agreed to the divorce, stay the hell away from Jessi.

“You’ve already done enough damage to her. I really hope you’ll keep your word and stop being two–faced–don’t say one thing to her face and do another behind her back.”
Gabriela said bluntly, not holding back at all.
These were words she’d been wanting to say for a long time.
“Jessi was nothing but good to you all those years, and all you ever did was break her heart. Now that you’ve finally grown a conscience and decided to let her go, stick to it. Don’t you dare go back on your word, or you’ll be doomed!”
She glared at him. “Did you hear me, Brian? Stop playing dead. I’m talking to you!”
After her lengthy tirade met with complete silence, Gabriela’s temper flared, and she shoved Brian hard.
He didn’t budge an inch. Just as she raised her hand to push him again, his head snapped up, his piercing gaze freezing her in place.

Gabriela flinched under his piercing gaze, but she quickly snapped back and tilted her chin up defiantly. “Yeah, I moved. So what? You gonna hit me or
what?”
After swiftly adjusting the IV tube, Brian replied in a measured tone, “My apologies. I was just worried you might dislodge the tube and cause Jessi pain.”
Gabriela’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Brian.
“Y–You’re apologizing to me?!”
