Stella snatched the wine glass away and set it aside, shooting her husband a pointed glare,

Brian lowered his gaze to the brimming glass, pausing briefly. Then, in a silent boast to Doreck, he downed it in one gulp. Without waiting for Dereck to say a word, he proactively poured himself two more large glasses and drank them straight

Brian didn’t press the topic further, nor did he ask why she hadn’t informed him about her discharge. Instead, he let his gaze drift over the dishes on the

table.

He offered, “I’ve recently mastered a couple of now dishes, Jessi. Care to try them?”

As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves and headed to the kitchen.

Jessica said coldly,

“No. This isn’t your house, Mr. Atkinson. If you’re so keen on cooking, why not go experiment in your own kitchen?”

“Then would you be willing to come back with me-

Brian jumped at the chance, but Jessica cut him off coldly

“Don’t even bring up something that’s never going to happen!” There’s no way she’d ever agree to go back to live with him,
