“Mr. Crawford, you haven’t even had a drop of water for the past two days. If this goes on, your body won’t be able to take it,” Jared’s butler expressed his concern. The dishes in the kitchen had been reheated but turned cold again, yet Jared did not want to eat.

Jared mumbled, “Do you know? She didn’t die, and I met her…”

Even the butler, who was the closest to him, did not know who he was talking about at that moment.

“But she’s no longer Gwen White, her current name is Stella Rose. She’s now someone else’s wife, and she has a daughter with that man. She lost her memory, so she doesn’t remember me anymore.” Jared’s eyes became more bloodshot, and his voice trembled a little as he spoke.

His butler sighed. ‘Indeed, Gwen is the only person who can make him act like this.

‘But Gwen passed away five years ago, how is she still alive? The butler asked after some thought, “Mr. Crawford, are you having nightmares again?”

Jared shook his head. “I didn’t have nightmares this time, it’s true. I met her during the cruise, and it was really her, but she doesn’t know who I am. She would rather jump into the sea again than come home with me.”

The butler pondered for a while and responded, “Mr. Crawford, if Mrs. Crawford is really still alive, has a new life, and is living well, how about… You forget about her?”

‘Forget about her?’ Jared looked like he was in a daze.

“If you love someone, don’t you want her to be safe and happy? Mrs. Crawford really can’t reconcile with you, so why don’t you just separate and live happily in your respective lives?” Jared’s butler advised sincerely.

Most importantly, he hoped Jared could set himself free instead of being stuck with Gwen — his dead knot — forever.

It was not like Jared did not understand it; he had persuaded himself many times for days to let go of the matter and let her go, but… Some things were easier said than done. He had fallen deeply in love with her, so could he let go just like that?

Fortunately, Jared’s secretary informed him of a piece of news after three days, which finally pulled him out from his muddled state. “Mr. Crawford, you asked me to keep an eye on the Warren family and Mrs. Crawford. There’s finally new progress.”

Jared quickly sat up. “What progress?”

“Mrs. Crawford is throwing a birthday party on Saturday night, and she invited reputable people from different social circles. If you’d like to meet her again, this might be a good opportunity,” his secretary answered.
