Zachary merely stared at her coldly.
Yvonne felt like her soul could leave her body at any time from how frightened she was. She wasn't sure of what he might say next.
Just when she thought he would continue to remain silent, he smiled coldly and said, "Childish."
She was a little surprised.
Did he really say such a thing?
The young master of the Lowe family from Southland had always been a polite, cultured gentleman.
However...
It looked like people would always change.
Just like herself. She used to be such a hardworking and serious person who could do whatever she wanted, but she herself ended up changing as well.
Yvonne laughed at herself. How could she expect other people to remain the same when even she herself had changed?
She didn't continue the topic. Instead, she said, "I really have to go now, my boss is waiting for me."
She had just returned to the country. Work hadn't been easy, so she wanted to prevent herself from being gossiped or spoken ill of.
All she wanted was to work, so that she could take care of herself and her daughter. That was all.
"Leave?" Zachary sneered. "Did you really think you could leave this room before you clarified everything?"
As he said that, he stood up from the sofa. His tall and strong figure made Yvonne feel immensely pressured.
She panicked and immediately took a few steps back.
He stared deeply into her eyes with those sharp eyes of his for a few seconds, then he walked towards the door.
He closed and locked the door.
Upon being locked, a creaking sound was made, which made Yvonne feel as if her own heart were being locked.
In a disoriented manner, she stared at Zachary, who stared at her coldly from the door. He didn't have to do or say anything to send chills down her spine.
She was really afraid of him.
That was because she wasn't sure of how to face this man.
She felt extremely down and dejected.
He stood by the door and didn't seem to be rushing. He merely stood there and stared down at her.
His gaze looked so sharp that it made her feel completely helpless.
"Yvonne, don't you think you should explain yourself?" Zachary asked in a cold voice. He spoke slowly, almost word-for-word.
Yvonne stared blankly at him for a moment before saying, "What is there for me to explain? Mr. Lowe, I really have to leave now. The way you're acting now makes it seem as if there's something between us. I don't want to be misunderstood by others."
"Seems? Misunderstood?" He walked over step by step from the door and looked at her with his sharp gaze.
When he walked in, she felt extra nervous.
"Shouldn't you explain why you suddenly left me the day after you had sex with me?"
As soon as he spoke, her face became pale instantly, as if someone had just removed her
soul.
She lowered her head and slowly said, "There's nothing to explain about it. It was merely a mistake. Why do you have to take it so seriously?"
"Yvonne!" He felt hurt. "I can't believe you have the guts to say this."
However, deep in her heart, she also wanted to hear his answer.
She wanted to find out if he kept her in his heart all these years without forgetting what happened.
"Humph!" However, he sneered and responded, "What did you expect? Who do you think you are? Do I need to remember someone like you for so many years?"
"If that was the case, why are you locking me in this room for your questioning?" She asked in return.
"Because no one else ever had the guts like you to challenge my patience," Zachary answered, "Hence, you can leave as soon as you explain what happened."
Yvonne's heart trembled. Even though she mentally prepared herself for his response, she still felt a sense of disappointment that couldn't be dissipated.
In fact, it even made her feel saddened.
How presumptuous she had been to assume that he would remember her the same way as she remembered him. She shouldn't have hoped for anything from him the moment she left.
However, she still couldn't stop herself from having such hope.
She adjusted herself again and spoke, "I was too disappointed in my experience with you that night. That's why I left."
Her words pierced through his heart as if they were sharpened into a sword.
"What did you just say?"
"I said, I wasn't satisfied with you that night." She wanted to crush her own hopes, as well as to deter him from approaching herself ever again. Hence, she continued on, "You performed so badly, and yet you still insisted to find out what went wrong, aren't you just asking to be humiliated?"
"Yvonne Attwood," he cried out in a low voice.
"Yeah, that's the truth. I really despise you, Zachary, since you performed so badly that night," she said word-for-word. "It was so bad that you shouldn't even be considered a man."
He took a deep breath and became even angrier.
