"Where are they?" he asked sternly upon seeing that his men had returned.

"They escaped," the head bodyguard replied.

"Eight of you couldn't even capture two people!" Will exclaimed icily.

"Mr. Shaun was injured. He hurt himself, forcing us to let them go. His injury seemed rather severe, so I dared not to push things and decided to let them escape," the head bodyguard explained.

Will grew somber, not expecting that would happen. But he still didn't give in. "Hasn't he received plenty of beatings in the past? When did you become so kind and soft-hearted?"

"Will you only be satisfied once Shaun is pushed to his limit?" Sandra had been eavesdropping outside the study and overheard about Shaun's injury. She couldn't help but push the door open.

Will knitted his brows tightly together. "Why did you come in?"

"Who knows what you'll do to Shaun if I don't come in now!" Sandra yelled.

"You're overreacting! Do you think he's in his right mind? Can he even be trusted anymore? He's going back on the deal he made on his own!"

"Shaun doesn't even like Shannon. Didn't you guys insist on planning the engagement for him? Don't you know how our actual marriage has been? Why are you still forcing your son into an arranged marriage? It's as if he's not your biological son at all. You don't seem to care about him!" Sandra accused.

Will faltered. He and Sandra always had treated each other with respect throughout their many years of marriage, which he found to be not bad at all. He didn't understand why she thought otherwise.
