Amelia chuckled lightly. It was as she had expected. Victor wouldn't have had such a drastic change in behavior and come all the way to apologize to her out of his conscience. He only did it because he needed her forgiveness to save himself from becoming jobless.

"Sorry," said Amelia coldly. "I could accept your apology if you were sincere, but I have no influence over Mr. Everett's decision."

That said, she told him to leave. "Please leave if you have nothing else to do here. I don't want to see your face."

Victor's blood boiled. "You— "

He scowled, his facade shattering instantly. He threatened, "Don't take things too far, Amelia! Consider yourself lucky that I said sorry! You're too full of yourself!"
