Hera wanted to hang up, but she remembered what Felix had said about Bernard's illness and felt bad. Plus, she did miss him.

However, thinking about how he had tampered with her memory to prevent her from continuing her investigation into Lucius, Hera's resolve hardened.

"What do you need?" she asked flatly.

Hearing her tone, Bernard's heart dropped. "I miss you—"

"I'm hanging up if there's nothing else," Hera interrupted him. She was done with his sweet talk. She had been deceived twice already!

"Did you have Tyler look into the photo?" Bernard quickly asked.

Hera wasn't surprised by his question. "And what if I did?"

"Actually, you—" Bernard began.

Hera guessed what he was about to say and cut him off. "I could have asked you to look into it, right?"

Bernard was caught off guard. He had checked as she requested. But out of personal interest, he didn't tell her the results. "Sorry..."

"I'm hanging up now." Hera huffed.

Bernard hurriedly said, "Wait! I'll take you to visit Lucius when I return, okay?"

That bastard. He was abroad and still trying to hinder her!

Bernard had been trying to contact Hera for days. And it was only now that he managed to contact her using his phone. With Bernard's possessiveness, Douglas couldn't help but wonder if Bernard thought he had something going on with Hera. Why else would Bernard be so focused on his phone?

Realizing the possibility, Douglas quickly explained, "Sir, I assure you, there's nothing between me and Mrs. Killian!"

Bernard cocked a brow.

"I don't contact her outside of work," Douglas added.

Bernard rolled his eyes. "Look in the mirror when you're free. You'll then understand why you're still single."

Although Douglas wasn't very clever, he could tell Bernard was criticizing his appearance! He wasn't ugly!
