"We can talk about it in the future." Hera snuggled into Bernard's arms, finding a comfortable position to sleep.

She was still young. She didn't want to go to college pregnant.

Seeing that she didn't disagree with the idea, he became hopeful. "When's that exactly?"

She gave it a thought. "At least after I graduate from college."

"That's four years later, then." His eyes lost the glow.

That was too long. Many men would be eyeing her like wolves. He was afraid that someone else would win her heart. He had a selfish idea—binding Hera with him forever with a baby as soon as possible.

She snorted and slapped his chest. "Just wait."

He propped himself up, wondering if they could have a baby sooner. Then, he noticed that she was sleeping with her left hand in a weird position.

Despite that, she didn't feel uncomfortable at all!

He frowned and grabbed her left hand. "You still can't feel your left hand?"

Before this, she kept it a secret from him because she thought that she and Catherine could cure it. However, there was no progress even after two weeks of treatment.

Now that he had noticed, she nodded and hummed.

Bernard's eyes darkened, filled with guilt, self-blame, and anger.

Everyone who had hurt Hera should go to hell.

After a long silence, he said, "Sweetie, I have a gift for you tomorrow."

She asked sleepily, "What is it?"

He kissed her forehead. "It's a secret for now. Good night. You'll know tomorrow."

She then drifted off without thinking much.

The next morning, a phone call woke her up. Annoyed, she pushed it to the side so that Bernard could answer it. Yet, she realized that he was gone. The space beside her was cold.

He began washing the phone while humming a melody. Pretending to notice the policemen, he asked sillily, "Huh? Do you guys need a bath too?"

"Bring him over too," ordered the leading man.

The two officers marched forward. Alarmed, Xavier held onto the edge of the bathtub. "Go away! I'm not going! I need to give my phone a bath! I'm not going with you!"

Despite the slippery floor, the well-trained officers managed to carry him easily and brought him out of the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Hera couldn't hear Xavier finish his words before the call ended suddenly. When she called back again, his phone was turned off.

She got out of bed immediately and gave Wayne a call to ask him to drive the car over. Next, she took a quick shower and got changed.

By the time she came out of the house, Wayne's car was already there.

"Hera, what's wrong?" Wayne asked as he noticed that she was in a rush.

"Take me to the Killian residence." She dialed Bernard's number.
