Wayne snapped out of his daze. "Okay. I'll get going then."

It was quite late already. Why didn't Everly call him? She must have been at the hospital the entire afternoon.

He drove to Reinland Hospital straight away and headed to the OB/GYN department. But before he could step into the department, he was stopped by the medical staff there.

He asked the nurse, "Can you tell me where Everly Pierce is?"

The nurse happened to know Everly and knew that Wayne worked at Hera's clinic. Everly had made quite the name for herself here at the hospital, so the nurse had quite the impression of Everly.

The nurse was sure that she hadn't seen Everly around in the afternoon. But she couldn't be certain if Everly had disguised herself when she came.

In the end, the nurse resorted to checking the records to see if Everly had come to the hospital that day. Shaking her head, she told Wayne, "She didn't come to the hospital today."

Wayne was taken by surprise. "Are you sure?"

"Yes," the nurse replied after scanning through the records on the computer again.

A frisson of anger rose within him. He remembered how pitiful she looked when she pleaded with him this morning. Was it all just a lie?

Wayne reached into his pocket for his phone. All of a sudden, he realized that his pocket was empty.

He reached into all his pockets to make sure that the thing he was looking for wasn't missing. But in the end, he came to the conclusion that his bank card was now missing!

Out of the blue, the scene of Everly hugging him before she got into the car resurfaced in Wayne's mind, and his face fell as realization dawned on him. His heart turned cold.

"Are you okay? Did you lose something?" the nurse asked after seeing the change of expression on his face. "Do you want to report it to the police?"

Wayne's reply was curt. "No thanks."

With that, he turned and left the hospital. He didn't have Everly's new phone number and had no idea where she had gone to. He didn't know where to find her either.

Soon enough, Gino replied, "Consider it done. Send me the details of the transaction."

Wayne: "Can you not tell Hera about this?"

Gino: "Why? Did you get scammed and you're afraid of letting her know?"

Wayne was speechless. Gino had quite the imagination.

Wayne: "Yeah. You have to keep it a secret."

Gino: "You didn't install the anti-scam app, did you? You're so gullible! You deserve it!"

Once again, Wayne was rendered speechless.

Gino: "Just send me the details. Allow me, the almighty Gino, to avenge you!"
