When Hera woke up the next day, Vanta had already prepared breakfast for Dylan and Dora, who were feasting at the dining table.
Vanta was telling stories to Dora, making her giggle. Meanwhile, Dylan sat beside them, silently eating breakfast with a scowl.
He didn't like talking during meals. Hera said that it was better to focus on eating during mealtimes instead of chatting with others.
Dylan had reminded Vanta of this before, but Vanta said that Dylan was far too serious.
"Mommy, you're awake." Dora spotted Hera coming downstairs and waved at her.
"Dora, don't laugh when you're eating. You might choke on your food," Hera reminded her.
"Oh." Dora pouted, feeling wronged.
"Esther, she's naturally lively. You're restricting them too much." Vanta got up to pull out a chair for Hera beside him.
"Your future children can be as lively as they like," Hera retorted. That was another way of saying that she would raise her children however she liked, and Vanta wasn't allowed to interfere.
Vanta kept quiet. While Hera had her breakfast, the phone on the table emitted a notification that signaled her programming was done running through the data.
After breakfast, she picked up her phone to check on the results. She had used the programming to check online for her previous bank account details and real estate information. She intended to save enough funds before buying the courtyard house from Bernard.
The result was not to her liking. She seemed to be much poorer in the past compared to now. She only had approximately 60 grand in the bank.
Hera wordlessly wondered what she could even do with that money. However, the results showed that she still had two properties in Jedburgh. One was a 538-square-foot condominium, and another was a courtyard house.
Courtyard house?
Hera immediately checked the address and learned that it was the same courtyard house she wanted to buy.
How could it belong to her?
"Do you know anyone at the County Recorder? I need someone to help me double-check the ownership of the courtyard house," Hera inquired.
Nicholas faltered for a moment, feeling slightly irritated. "Why do you keep thinking of that place?"
"I find that place very familiar," Hera answered. That wasn't a lie. Besides, she wanted to recover her memories, so the best way was to go back to a place she knew best.
Most importantly, she had to confirm the information.
Seeing how quiet he became, Hera decided not to force him. After all, it wasn't a very difficult task for her to handle. "It's okay if you can't help me. Hello, I would like the bill, please." Hera waved for the waiter.
After paying the bill, she left the café and headed for the parking lot. She suddenly heard Nicholas say, "I'll drive you there."
He had no way of refusing her.
