When Bernard returned to the Imperial Hotel, Theo had settled all the guests, leaving only Vanta, who was there to discuss their partnership. Theo had convinced Bernard to meet Vanta due to Hera's connection to him.

"Where's Esther?" he asked.

"Esther is our technology director. She's not responsible for the Commercial Department. I'm Brenda, the head of the Commercial Department, and Vanta and I will be the ones negotiating with you," Brenda answered, cutting off Vanta before he could speak.

Theo frowned, realizing what was happening. Brenda was trying to steal credit from Hera. But without Hera here, there was no way for Bernard to discover that Esther was actually Hera!

Just then, footsteps echoed down the hall. Theo quietly opened the door to welcome the man in.

"It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Killian." Vanta stood up and extended his hand.

Bernard didn't even spare him a glance. He walked right past him, taking his seat at the head of the table. Two bodyguards stood behind him.

It felt less like a business negotiation and more like a courtroom.

"Mr. Killian, you're as aloof as they say!" Vanta awkwardly retracted his hand and rubbed his nose.

Vanta was a well-known businessman himself, but he couldn't even earn a single glance now.

Brenda had heard the president of XS Corporation was insanely handsome. Seeing him in person confirmed it.

Seeing that Vanta was unsuccessful, she smiled seductively at him. "I've long heard of your talents. But those stories don't do you justice."

"Then come back when you have the right one. Escort them out," Bernard said icily.

Theo immediately caught on and ordered, "I'm sorry, Mr. Whitlock. This way, please."

Vanta's face fell, but he forced himself to remain calm to secure the partnership. "Very well. Here's our company's product portfolio. You can review it first. We'll have a proper discussion when I bring the right person."

With that, he left the product materials behind, grabbed Brenda, and quickly exited the room.

Brenda was angry beyond words. She had followed Vanta here when she learned he was attending XS Corporation's launch event. Upon hearing that Esther had secured a meeting with them, she rushed over, thinking this partnership would be her greatest achievement of the year.
