Vanta stopped smiling as he exclaimed earnestly, "Exactly! She used to be mine!"

Bernard let out a light chuckle. "She used to be yours?" His tone made it seem like he had heard the world's biggest joke.

Bernard chucked the pieces of the contract at Vanta. "As you can see, I've changed my mind about our collaboration."

If Vanta were slightly more naïve, he would've assumed that Bernard had agreed to change the terms of the contract. However, Vanta was a seasoned businessman. He knew Bernard meant that the collaboration was off the table.
