"I called her family. Her brother and sister-in-law have taken her back home to recover," Joyce said.

"This all happened because of William, so we won't turn a blind eye. We've arranged to send 20 thousand dollars to her family every month. Once her and William's emotions are stabilized, we'll figure out the next steps."

As they spoke, a maid's shrill scream came from upstairs.

"William!" Joyce stood reflexively and rushed upstairs.

Without much thought, Tiffany followed her up to the second floor.

Just as they reached William's room, they found a maid collapsed on the floor.

The door was wide open, and she stared inside, horror-struck.

Joyce walked over. "What's going on?"

The maid seemed too shaken to react, frozen in that pose.

Ignoring her, Joyce charged right into the room.

A step behind, Tiffany reached the doorway just as Joyce's piercing cry rang out. "William, my son!"

Tiffany looked inside. The bedroom window was open, and the wind was gusting through.

A rope hung down from the ceiling, William dangling lifelessly from it. His body swayed thinly like a scrap of paper with feet dangling in the air.

Soon, the Lewis family's maids rushed over at the commotion. It took great effort to get William down from the noose.

Frantic efforts eventually revived him, his face mottled from the strangulation.

Joyce knelt, cradling William in anguish. "You foolish child, what am I supposed to do if something happened to you?"

William's eyes were wide open but lifeless, staring blankly at the ceiling. They held no spark of life, only emptiness.

But the mention of her name seemed to stir something in William's soul.

Joyce felt him move slightly. Looking down, she saw a flicker of life return to his eyes.

His gaze went over everyone to settle on Tiffany at the doorway.

Meeting William's stare, Tiffany continued. "Mrs. Lewis, let him go. If he wants to die so badly, then let him."

"Tiff…"

"He's a grown man now. After committing such grave mistakes, does he still need others to console him? You can't watch him 24 hours a day. We should grant his wish if he sees death as a relief."

With that, Tiffany picked up the rope from the floor and walked over, offering it to William.

The others looked on in confusion.
