Helen shook her head, not dwelling on it any further. Then, she took out her phone to call a cab home.

Upon returning to the Newton residence, Helen found Esmond and Chandler playing chess in the yard. Surprised to see her, Esmond remarked, "Helen, why the sudden return? You should have informed us so Chandler could have picked you up."

Helen explained, "It's fine. I managed on my own."

Esmond beckoned her over, "Come here, let me have a look at you. You've lost weight in just half a month. You must have been studying too hard. Harper, prepare some chicken soup for Helen tonight."

Harper quickly acknowledged him, "Understood, Mr. Newton Senior."

"Come, Helen, join me for a game," Esmond invited, and Chandler graciously vacated his seat for her.

They played chess. Having learned a bit from her grandfather, Helen was somewhat familiar with the game, making her a novice.

"Chandler, keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn't lose too badly," Esmond instructed.

Chandler obliged, "Yes, Grandpa."

With Chandler's support, Helen felt slightly more confident. However, losing to an experienced player like Esmond was inevitable. Helen had lost each game.

Feeling deflated, Helen turned to Chandler. "Grandpa asked you to watch over me. Why didn't you help me win at least one game?"

Chandler simply replied, "A spectator should never comment on the game."

Helen thought his response seemed reasonable enough!

"Alright, Helen, you've lost with dignity. You were always just half a step away from winning, making me wonder if you were doing it on purpose," Esmond chuckled.

Helen playfully stuck out her tongue. "What are you saying, Grandpa? I couldn't possibly be that good."

Esmond seemed not to grasp her implication. "Don't worry, Helen. Chandler is the most reliable among them. I'm at ease with him by your side."

"But he might not be willing to do it," Helen passed the buck to Chandler, expecting him to refuse. However, she underestimated the weight of Esmond's words.

"For Grandpa, I'll have my secretary book the tickets shortly," Chandler said.

Esmond nodded in satisfaction. Seeing this, Helen had no choice but to relent.

The next morning, Helen and Chandler arrived at the airport together. They were both flying first class.

Once on the plane, Helen couldn't help but ask, "Why are you accompanying me to Nordstadt?"

Chandler retorted, "Isn't this Grandpa's wish?"
