Chandler's words were clearly a threat.

Yet, Zac seemed unconcerned and retorted, "You care so much about her. Could it be that you've taken a liking to her?"

After saying this, Zac couldn't help but scoff, "But a woman as unattractive as her hardly seems your type!"

The scorn in Zac's eyes deepened. He stepped closer to Chandler and continued, "Don't think I don't know what you want. Or should I say, we have the same goals. Since that's the case, let's not criticize each other. May the best man win."

Chandler's lips curved in a cold smile. "You can't hide your true colors forever."

With a cold laugh, Zac said nothing more and turned to leave.

Chandler knew Zac was about to make a move. It seemed the coming days would be interesting.

After the elevator incident, Helen was not well. She developed a high fever that night and only woke up groggily the next afternoon. Opening her eyes, she saw Esmond looking at her worriedly. "Helen, you're finally awake."

Helen's mind was foggy. The familiar ceiling above her and the lingering memory of being trapped in the elevator made her shiver uncontrollably.

"Are you alright, Helen?" Esmond inquired.

Helen shook her head. "I'm fine. I'm sorry to have worried you."

"Don't mention that. I had no idea you had claustrophobia. I'll make sure nothing like this happens again," Esmond reassured her.

Helen thanked him in a soft voice. Not many knew about her claustrophobia. She hadn't had an episode in years and thought she could control it until this incident revealed she might never escape this nightmare.

"If there's anything you want to eat, just let me know. You need to rest and recover," Esmond said gently.

Without looking up, Helen replied again with a hum.

Chandler couldn't decipher her thoughts and chose not to press further. He reminded her again, "Remember to drink it. I'll be leaving now."

Helen didn't even hum in response this time.

She put down her book and sighed in resignation only after he had left the room. For some reason, she couldn't help but recall their moment in Nordstadt every time she saw Chandler.

Moreover, she had heard from the housekeepers that it was Chandler who had carried her back to her room after she fainted in the elevator.

These thoughts made Helen feel awkward. It was the first time she had kissed a man, the first time she was carried by a man like a princess… And it was all with Chandler.
