As soon as the words left Lucy's mouth, she realized her mistake. She bit her lip and lowered her head in embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Taylor was momentarily caught off guard. Pretending he hadn't heard her, he casually picked up another piece of food and popped it into his mouth.

Lucy rested her chin on her hand, watching him for a moment. As her gaze shifted around the room, she couldn't help but notice the mess. Apart from the dining table, there was barely enough space to move—it looked like a disaster zone.

"How on earth have you managed to live like this?" she asked.

With that, she made her way over to the couch and chairs. After collecting the dirty clothes, she began sorting through the trash.

"Don't worry about it," Taylor said, still engrossed in his meal, not even looking up. "I'll clean up later."

"It's no problem. I don't have anything else to do," Lucy replied, happy to help. "Consider this my way of thanking you for everything you've done for me at the hospital."

Since she insisted, Taylor didn't argue. He focused back on his food, enjoying every bite. In just a few minutes, his plate was empty, and he had already devoured most of the four dishes.

Taylor rubbed his stomach in satisfaction, but as he glanced out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Lucy pulling a pair of boxers from beneath a cushion.

Reacting on instinct, he snatched the boxers and awkwardly hid it behind his back. "I… I'll handle this," he stammered.

Lucy had initially thought it was just a stray pair of shorts, but upon seeing Taylor's flustered reaction, her face instantly turned red. Mortified, she grabbed the clothes and hurried into the bathroom.

With that, Taylor scrambled to the corner chair and grabbed the rest of the boxers. He then quickly stuffed them into the bedroom, hoping to cover his tracks.

Taking a deep breath, Lucy steadied herself and allowed the color to fade from her cheeks. Once she came out of the bathroom, she got to work tidying up the rest of the living space.

In under ten minutes, the room was completely transformed, and the air felt noticeably lighter.

With that, Lucy left, sensing the unspoken need for some personal space.

Even though they were a couple, they had already spent a lot of time together that day. No matter how close two people were, a little space was always important.

Lucy could tell that Taylor wasn't entirely comfortable with someone intruding into his private space just yet. Respecting his boundaries, she decided not to push any further.

After all, there was plenty of time ahead, and she was confident she would eventually find her place in his life.

After Lucy left, Taylor settled back into his chair and opened his laptop. His fingers flew over the keyboard as he infiltrated the internal network of BJ Group.

Though the Hunt family had enjoyed a brief moment of peace, a ticking time bomb would remain as long as Aiden was still in the picture.

The only way to secure lasting peace for the Hunts was to take Aiden down. Once that was done, Abigail would be safe.
