"Help! No, don't!" Freya cried out in panic.
When she saw it was Chandler, she let out a sigh of relief. "You scared me! I thought it was that guy coming to finish me off!"
"Did you get a good look at him?"
Chandler needed to figure out who the assailant was; Helen and the baby's safety were at risk.
"No." Freya shook her head, still gasping from the shock. "He hit me from behind. I didn't see his face."
Chandler gritted his teeth, storming off.
"Hey! Wait for me! Don't leave me here alone!"
Still disoriented, Freya tried to climb out of the bin but couldn't manage it. After a moment's hesitation, she crawled back in, bracing herself against the side. The bin rocked before finally tipping over, crashing to the ground with a heavy thud.
Freya scrambled out of it, paying no attention to her disheveled appearance. Without hesitation, she quickly got to her feet and hurried to catch up with Chandler.
By the time they reached the resort, the smooth, pale soles of her feet were cut and bruised from the sharp stones along the path.
When the news broke that Helen had been kidnapped, Taylor and the others gathered outside the hotel lobby. As soon as they saw Chandler return, they rushed toward him.
"So, how did it go?" Abigail asked.
"We didn't manage to catch up with them," Chandler said, his thick eyebrows furrowed tightly, a faint mist clouding his gaze.
A heavy silence fell over the group, their faces growing serious.
Just then, Freya came into view.
It felt as though even the faintest noise could set him off, causing him to end Freya's life in an instant.
In just a few seconds, Freya's face turned bright red, her hands frantically pounding against Chandler's unyielding grip. "I-I only asked her to help mediate between me and my dad, nothing more!"
Chandler's eyes narrowed, his long lashes casting a shadow that hid the depths of his thoughts.
Freya couldn't decipher what he was thinking; all she could feel was his grip tightening, lifting her off the ground entirely.
Her breath grew shallow as she clung to his hand with both of hers. "It wasn't me. If I wanted to go after Kaylee, I wouldn't have been so reckless, nor would I have gotten personally involved. I'm not that foolish, Chandler. I'm Seth Moran's daughter. You can't just kill me!"
Her voice faltered into a whisper, and as she finished speaking, a tremor passed through her. A blinding flash surged through her mind, and her limbs went slack, hanging lifeless by her sides.
No one moved to intervene. They all understood Freya's nature. Even if this were a misunderstanding, it was still a consequence of her own making.
