Two days quickly passed.

While Jenson and the others tirelessly searched for Helen, Salome quietly entered the paternity testing center to collect the results ahead of schedule.

Normally, the results would take three days to process, but Salome had used a bribe to ensure her request was expedited.

However, as soon as she saw the report, her anger flared. "Are you absolutely sure? Neither of them? This can't be right! There must be something wrong with the equipment!"

The results showed that the sample of her amniotic fluid didn't match either Jenson or Bryan. In other words, the man she had been with that night wasn't one of them.

Nonetheless, Salome vividly remembered the scent of that man—it was unmistakably the same as Jenson's. How could he be ruled out completely?

Having already pocketed her bribe, the technician remained unfazed. "The machines don't lie. Whatever sample you give them, they'll process it as is. Unlike some people, who sleep with a dozen men and still can't tell who's who," she replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"How dare you speak to me like that? I paid for this service, not to be insulted! Do you think I won't report you for this? Get out here and apologize!" Salome seethed.

She had long been irritated by the technician. So what if she worked at the center? Earning a few thousand a month while breaking her back wasn't something to boast about.

Salome, on the other hand, had men tripping over themselves to shower her with money. Ten thousand dollars a month was more than enough for her; she couldn't have cared less.

Unmoved by her tantrum, the technician slammed the window shut and walked off without a second glance.

Salome muttered curses under her breath, her fury simmering just below the surface. Moments later, the security guard arrived to escort her out. With a final glare, she grabbed the report and stormed off.

Outside, Salome stood at the entrance, her gaze fixed on the two reports in her hands. Her mind felt hazy, and her legs trembled as if they might give way at any moment.

In her disoriented state, her eyes caught a small advertisement on the wall, jolting her back to reality.

It wasn't just the surroundings; even the sky was shrouded in a heavy, overcast gray. The trees lining the road looked out of place, unlike anything from a tropical climate, and the ground was blanketed in snow.

Everything around her seemed to carry an oppressive weight, as if the very air was thick and suffocating.

"Care to guess where we are?" Colin asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.

"Well, we're definitely not in the Southern Hemisphere," Helen answered casually.

In the past few days, the two of them had gotten along with little friction. It no longer felt like a hostage situation but more like a reunion between old friends.

"You've gotten surprisingly sharp. I have to admit, it's a bit unsettling."
